Palmeras del Río HOTEL

Victor & Jaime were unbelievable hosts - they made our time there very special.

Great place, in the middle of the nature directly at the river. The guys working there were absolutely great! The dinner for 80 Quetzales was great! Super chilled atmosphere and super cute dogs :)

There was no shared kitchen.

Great location, designed with love. Food was DELICIOUS and staff extremely friendly and helpful. We only had rain but it still was a brilliant stay. Can’t imagine how dreamy this place would have been with sun!

Dogs shouldn’t be able to walk the dining/ guest room areas. Other than that - brilliant stay!

We loved this place, the vibe, the shared spaces, the food. The room was very comfortable. We felt super privileged to stay on the Rio at this hostel.

No insonorisation in the private rooms. Also, the shared dinner is a bit pricey, but it was fresh and delicious.

The staff is so friendly, so helpful and just overall so lovely. The vibe there is amazing! It's a relaxed getaway in the jungle where you'll feel totally at home.

Nothing really! But keep in mind that you can reach Rio Dulce and Livingston only a couple times per day on set times.

Where do I begin? Over 1,000GTQ for two nights...the accommodations and facilities at Palmeras Del Rio aren't worth anywhere near that. No hot water, unreliable wifi, no electrical outlets in my first room (dorm room), they cut off the power every night and don't turn it back on until the morning, the water cut out completely during my shower, the door to my second room wouldn't even close all the way and so it couldn't be locked, they totally overcharged for dinner every night, the list goes on. I even gave them my dirty laundry to clean, and not only did I have to go and collect it for myself, it actually looked worse than when I gave it to them and they still wanted to charge me full price for it, smh. I wouldn't be so disappointed if they didn't try to nickel and dime me and overcharge me for everything. But since they want to change 4 or 5 Star prices for 1 Star accomodations, I'm not holding back on my complaints. Also, this may not be specific to them, but transportation by lancha (boat) to any hotel/town/place along the river is freaking expensive and adds up quickly. And I confirmed that foreigners pay more for the river transportation than the locals do, so keep that in mind before you book here.

It was just amazing! The location is insane wonderful, it’s clean and the cocktails are delicious and the food: one of the best we had so far! The staff is incredible friendly. You can book trips there to Livingston etc and rent a Kayak! It felt like being with the family- Thanks again for this wonderful stay!
