Palmeras del Río HOTEL

Right from the beginning Victor and Louis together with nice dog Baluu welcomed us at the deck. Going above and beyond during stay. Victor prepared for us amazing food and hight quality drinks in the middle of the jungle(!) Louis helped us plan next day and all the activities. The view is amazing especially for the sunset. We felt like home during our stay. Thank You very much!

We loved that place! Victor & Luis added to that small simple oasis a funny sunny family feeling. The chill areas are amazing and you can spend all day at the river, enjoy the view, have a perfect breakfast or whatever your heart desires. In the evenings there is (an optional) dinner with all guests and changing dishes of the day. The two make every meal as simple it may be exquisite. Balu (the dog) is the cutest Baywatch and keeps an eye on everyone. .

The only minus are the rooms (at least the one we had), as there is just a bed and no real interior. At least a wardrobe or cupboard would be nice to get comfortable

I stumbled upon this place on Booking at the last minute. It turned out to be a wonderful place to stay. The staff is excellent - super attentive and very kind! The food is amazing and prices are reasonable! We stayed in a private room with private bath. The mosquito nets over the bed were a lifesaver. The bed was comfortable. The shower and bath were actually outside, which was unique and fun for a few days! There’s no hot water but after a day outside in the heat that wasn’t such a big deal. The location is perfect! 100% recommended!

Great host and atmosphere! Also a great location, very quiet and availability of kayaks to explore the area! Upon arrival the host explains very clearly what the possibilities are and is always open to help if you have any questions.

Showers were or cold or too hot and our bed was missing a mosquito net which was uncomfortable given that the room was not sealed against mosquitos

The nature, the food, the personal

Beautiful place, very impressed with the natural beauty which is what we were after. Excellent food and staff!! If you're looking for a 5 star hotel with all the luxuries not for you. If you want to experience about as close as you can get to Guatemala's nature and beauty and still be comfortable enjoy!!

Dedicated and friendly team. Location is amazing along the river. The cook is about to become a chef, so the food is very tasty (I hope you will be able to try those giant schrimps). I initially planned to stay 1 night before heading to Livingstone and decided to stay 3 nights and skipped the Livingstone trip (which you can make directly from the hotel). Cheers

Lack of intimacy in the rooms with a sea view, not the best for couples I guess

Beautiful location with loads of places to relax, friendly dog and 2 cats, every night family dinner, delicious breakfast (try the Mexican and pancakes!) lots of activities and friendly and welcoming staff. The staff Luis y Victor really made an effort to make us feel at home :) We really enjoyed staying here!

Some small stuff: We could use some hooks in our room to hang clothes!!! Keep in mind that the 4 private rooms with shared bathroom are basically connected to each other, so you can hear every little thing from your neighbors.

Staff here were top notch. Exceptionally helpful but more laid back than Hotelito Perdido where we had stayed the night before. Food was also exceptional as was the grounds/compound in general.

The actual room it self was not nearly as nice as Hotelito Perdido, the bed was particularly uncomfortable...however that was a pretty minor beef...you don't really go to these kinds of places to spend time in the rooms anyway.
