Shasha Lodge, Mabalingwe Game Reserve

The house is spacious and the kids enjoyed the hot tub.

-This property is a great example of FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. - The property is advertised as part of Mabalingwe game reserve, IT IS NOT. If you want to pass through the gate from the property into Mabalingwe you can only do so in a green rented game viewing vehicle with a special permission card, otherwise you need to drive the 7km gravel road back to Mabalingwe's main gate with your own vehicle. We were only made aware of this after paying the full booking amount. -After agreeing to rent the game viewing vehicle, the host of the house informed us that she doesn't have permission cards to go through the gate anymore. After about an hours back and forth with her, she did in fact find one. When the rented vehicle arrived it was in such a bad state and left us stranded twice. The following day the host agreed to send a new vehicle. This vehicle was in a much worse condition! Upon advise from the staff, we rather waited for the previous vehicle to be repaired than take that one. - You have to pay a R3000 breakage deposit, but don't receive an ittennarry. - The house is advertised for 12 people, but there is only enough hot water for 3 people to have a hot shower or bath, which was very frustrating, especially with elderly people and small children in the winter. -On the Sunday of departure, we together with the hosts appointed staff, checked that everything was still in the same condition as arrival, in order to assure that there are no issues with the payback of our deposit. On inquiring on the Wednesday per WhatsApp when the deposit will be paid back, we were informed of the maximum 7 day waiting period and that there might be an issue because the game viewing vehicle doesn't want to start. The same vehicle/s which arrived in a horrid state and broke down with us twice.

Bigger pool

Very big nice house with lots of rooms and really liked the jacuzzi. Lynette was very helpful.

The backup system was in for repairs while we where there.

The house is nice and spacious and the location is good.

Twin bed were too closer to thatch roof for people to sleep in. We did not have house keeping for the weekend even though it was paid. We had to wash our own dishes make our beds.

I liked the private pool as well as the spaciousness of the property. I liked that the WiFi was pretty good.

Bugs. Consideration be given to having basics like a mop and broom available.
