The Upper House

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful Airbnb while visiting the Cinque Terre, and it was truly a fantastic experience. The location was unbeatable—right in the heart of Riomaggiore, which quickly became our favorite town of the five. The property itself was spotless, stylish, and up to date, with every modern comfort you could hope for. The view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking—a perfect spot to start or end the day. But what truly made the stay exceptional was Martha. Her hospitality was outstanding, and her attention to detail did not go unnoticed. From clear, timely communication to making sure we had everything we needed (even the smallest things), she went above and beyond to make our stay smooth and memorable.

The Upper House was a fabulous base for our trip to Cinque Terre. Martha was an exceptional host and made everything easier. She met us at the parking space and walked us up to the apartment. She spent at least 30 minutes explaining the apartment, the area, the 5 towns, how to purchase trail and train tickets, etc. She booked our dinner reservations and suggested a booked a terrific sunset boat tour. The apartment itself was immaculate and comfortable. The AC worked great, there was plenty of water pressure, and we had everything we needed for our stay. The views of the town were fantastic. Although there are several flights of steps/ramps up to apartment, they were manageable (and I am still recovering from knee replacement surgery). Be aware - those steps are from the main road to the apartment. There are many additional flights of steps down to town - but there are two city elevators (one right at the foot of the apartment). Sadly, they weren't functional during our visit. Regardless, we would definitely stay at The Upper House during future visits to Cinque Terre.

The deck was a little small for 3 people, but it was still nice to have some space to sit outside and enjoy the view.

Our host Martha met us already at the propertys gate when we arrived and showed us to our room and all facilities. She also gave us a lot of useful tips for our stay in Cinque Terre, with information about all the towns and what to see and do. Clean room with airconditioner, with a nice little patio and a lemon tree right outside the window! Quite area so very comfortable at night. Many stairs up to the property (like its everywhere in Riomaggiore😅) but definitly worth it! We loved our stay here, big thanks to Martha and the Upper House! 😊

Martha was just incredible - she helped us settle in so well. The room with the balcony is well worth the extra money - the view is incredible and it was beautiful to sit out there and have a wine. Location was amazing. Martha helped us plan our stay in Cinque Terre - only wish we had been able to stay longer!

The property and location are beautiful! And Martha was a fantastic hostess. She had great recommendations and was so helpful in making our short stay in Cinque Terre well worth it. We will be back someday!

Beautiful view from balcony, very modern and comfortable hotel style room. Big bathroom with great shower (with a view!), mini fridge, safe and hanging space for clothes. Martha left us beers/wine/water and snacks too. Martha was the best host, she was so helpful with maps/info and suggestions to make the most of our stay. She booked boat tours and restaurants for us, and all her recommendations were perfect. Thank you Martha for making our stay!

Nothing! Even walk up was in its own way enjoyable.

Martha is the best host that you could possibly ask for. She gave us fantastic recommendations to make the most of each day in the Cinque Terre. She even offered to make our restaurant reservations and booked us an amazing discounted cooking class experience and a gorgeous boat tour. She was so generous with her time. The room is comfortable and well appointed. Highly recommend the Upper House!

A newly renovated, modern accommodation at Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, which is hard to find in the area. The owner Martha is very friendly and hospitable and the check in process was extremely smooth considering how complicated the roads are in Rio. Highly recommended.

Nothing much. It’s on the expansive side though but I guess the whole area is expansive.

The apartment was absolutely new and extremely clean. When you’re inside you feel that everything there is organized with true love and care. There was also a big variety of welcome drinks and snacks for free what is not a common thing when you rent apartments
