Owls Retreat, Meadowview House

This overnight stay was absolutely idylic. The shepherds hut was amazing, everything you could need with lots of homely, caring touches set in the most amazing countryside with veiws to die for. The hosts could not do enough for us. Milk, bread, biscuits. Fresh eggs from the chickens for breakfast also the bed was so comfy. The hosts were passionate about their animals, horses, chickens, ducks, dogs and made us feel so welcome.They had lovely sitting area's to unwind at night and admire the beautiful veiws. The hosts even had a candle lit for us when we retired for the evening with our glass of wine. I cant praise this accommodation enough. First class.

From the second we arrived until it was time for us to leave, we were looked after like family. We were given fresh eggs, laid by the gorgeous hens on site - absolutely delicious and a wonderful bonus treat! The shepherds hut itself is so well equipped and every detail finished to such a high standard - everything had been thought of with extra little touches. A fridge full of goodies, the comfiest mattress we've ever stayed on whilst being away and as for the grounds...spectacular! The dome overlooking the river and endless views of the countryside really made for a perfect, lazy afternoon and an extra special place to watch the sun go down in the evening. It felt like we had been on a 24 hour retreat - so relaxing! Couldn't wish for better hosts, regularly checked in to see if there was anything we needed without being at all intrusive - really genuine, lovely people that bend over backwards for their guests. We stayed as a couple but as a female that likes to have the odd night away to recharge, this place is the perfect getaway - it's gated and feels so safe. A place to truly unwind and relax.

Genuinely can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and thoughtfulness by the hosts, who clearly take immense pride in creating a special experience for their guests. The hut itself is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort — immaculately clean, beautifully styled, and cleverly designed to make the most of the cozy space. Every detail felt carefully considered, from well-equipped kitchenette and thoughtful little touches like fresh eggs and milk and fresh juice in the fridge. The setting is absolutely idyllic — peaceful, private, and surrounded by stunning countryside. What really sets this stay apart, though, are the hosts Jan and Ian. Friendly, attentive (but never intrusive), and genuinely kind, they went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, incredibly welcoming and warm. Will 100% be returning often

We absolutely loved our stay, it exceeded our expectations and they were already high after reading their reviews. They place is just gorgeous and the animals alround were an added treat. The hosts couldn't do enough and were so so lovely and extremely helpful, even offered us a lift to the local so we didnt have to use a taxi - unreal. Everything you need with every little detail thought of. Ian has transformed the land into something incredible, you've done yourself proud! Perfect way to spend an early birthday getaway & we cant wait to stay again. Thank you Jan & Ian

Can't fault a thing!

The location was absolutely idyllic. The view was stunning. The grounds are so beautifully maintained and at every turn there was something else to enjoy. A big bonus is the pod on the lake. What a treat to sit and watch the sun go down in such a perfect place. The owners were very attentive without being intrusive. Perfect!
