Location and large rooms

When we arrived at night, there was no electricity in the house. We have texted the host, and they came up quickly. They tried their best to fix the electricity, but it was only partially fixed. We liked the location, property, price, and host's prompt response, but there was an electricity issue (which can happen anywhere in old properties) that created an uneasy experience.

"Won’t be staying there again."

Beds were comfortable.

Turned up at 12 house was still getting cleaned had to wait 1.5 hours for them to finish. Non stick frying pans were scratched up the oven was hard to work the plug on the bench was not secure the shower was filthy.

This is really hard to review. There was lots we loved and lots we didn't. I don't like to leave a bad review but there are definitely a few things I'd like to point out so that a reasonable standard is maintained and that some of the things I'll point out, are avoided in future. The house was lovely and big, though, heaps of character. There was heating throughout to keep the place cozy. Kitchen had all we needed. Really great location, easy to find.

The communication or lack of was absolutely appalling. Not one single message was answered, nor any of my calls. I messaged through booking.com and no reply. I messaged the number given on the boooking site...and no reply. I messaged a different number after it had just txt me to say the place was ready...and no reply. YOU REALLY NEED TO ANSWER AND COMMUNICATE. Booking.com said check in was 12.00 We arrived at 12.30 and the cleaner was there cleaning and said she needed one more hour still. I could not get in touch with the owner to discuss this. We had to leave our bags and everything at the house while the cleaner was there because we had an appointment that we needed to be at, at 1pm. I've never had anything like this happen before!! I then received a message at 2.12pm to say the place was ready to check in 🤯 Just a couple of other things that would have made our stay more enjoyable, was having a hand towel or two in the bathroom to dry our hands. More toilet paper, not just one spare roll for a booking of 6. Light bulbs in the lamps. All the lamps we wanted to use either didn't work or had no light bulbs in them. Maybe fill the ice trays so there is ice available would be nice too. If people needed to bring things like towels or toilet paper, stipulate this in the booking description. Also, it would be good to know what this property is actually a house with a granny flat, which the owner I'm assuming, lives in. This is not a problem, but be straight up so people know exactly what it is and there is nothing unexpected. Lastly, you need to get the water pressure sorted!! The toilet would barely fill and the shower was the most pathetic thing I'd ever showered in. You should not be charging people this much if they can't even have a proper shower. Wish we knew all of this prior to booking. We still may have stayed but you need to be open and honest with people. Thank you
