Sky Garden Ella

Sky Garden is as described - its above the main road into and out of Ella. It's a family run business, the whole family are lovely and very welcoming - Shani was especially helpful and keen to practice her English. The room was comfortable, surrounded by a beautiful lush green garden and very close to both Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adams Peak. The breakfast was exceptional and just ket coming!

It is very easy to drive past the entrance to Sky Garden (especially in the dark) and it is quite a steep climb up to the house itself.

Sky Garden was absolutely perfect in every way. My room was lovely and comfortable with a nice little patio in front for relaxing and enjoying breakfast amongst the jungle scenery. The signature Sri Lankan breakfasts (hoppers, pol roti, Sri lankan pancakes, fresh fruit, tea, etc. were varied and excellent. Most amazing is the family that runs the facility. They went out of their way to make my stay amazing by helping me to coordinate activities, asking what foods I liked for breakfast, providing advice, asking about my days, helping me to learn more Sinhala language skills, and so much more. They also have a nice dog Rocky !

There was nothing that I did not like.

Please do yourself a favour and stay at this guesthouse, it’s great! The location is perfect for must-do hikes to Little Adam’s Peak and Nine Arches, and you're also slightly out of the chaos of the main street in Ella but it’s easily accessible within a 15-minute stroll. The room has everything you need and the breakfast is one of the best I’ve had. What really stands out at this place though is the host family. They go out of their way to make you feel at home, help you with any request and proactively share advice and tips for exploring Ella and its surrounds. I’ll deifinitely be staying here next time I visit Ella!

We had a large room with our private bathroom and patio. The host is friendly and very helpful. We asked her to prepare their home cooked dinner for us during our stay and it was delicious. The BnB is also located very near to the path that leads to little Adam’s peak. The hike up took us about 30 minutes and it is a must visit if you are in Ella. Ella’s temperature is nice, temperature was about 25degrees during the day and dropped to 16 in the wee morning. Do note that the district has some electricity shut down in the afternoon so best to be outdoor during that period.

This is the perfect place to stay when visiting Ella. It is a 10-minute walk outside the main town centre but still close to everything without dealing with the noise. Little Adam’s Peak and Nine Arches Bridge are next door, which was my primary motivation for booking this accommodation. But I received so much more in return. My room was spotless and came with a huge bed, mosquito net, mirror, side table, wall shelves, and a small desk and stool. WiFi is available. The bathroom is immaculate and has hot water with modern fixtures. After the second day, my room was cleaned, and a new towel and toilet paper roll were provided. I also had a lovely private terrace with a table and two chairs that looked out onto the property garden - I felt like I was in a treehouse! A delicious breakfast was served every morning with tea, juice, fruits, and various rotating dishes. The owners treated me like part of the family, and they were so kind and caring during the three nights I spent here. They always offered their help and even supported me in making some decisions about my plans based on what was feasible - I really valued their opinion. As a solo female traveller, I felt extremely safe and looked after. Highly recommend!

The room and bed were slightly damp, given Ella's high humidity and general weather patterns. But that’s something all accommodations there have to deal with, so it’s not specific to Sky Garden. I found that keeping the fan on at night helped reduce room moisture.

Beautiful guesthouse in the hills just outside Ella. The hosts were extremely friendly, adaptable, hospitable and welcoming. The room was full of character and charm.

The family looked after us beautifully and made us wonderful breakfasts. They were all very friendly and eager to help if ideas or activities were requested.

Lovely guest house and lovely family! The breakfast was very delicious and the bed super comfortable.
