Luxury Shirley Apartments close to Solent Uni and Southampton Central Train Station

The room was clean, and looking at the ad after our stay, the photo was representative of the room. It was about a 10 minute walk from the train station. The owner/manager did respond to a couple of concerns fairly quickly.

No house number on the front of the building, so we went to the back, where there was a key box that didn’t work. Once re-oriented to the front, the box there worked. The back door gave directly onto an unswept entry walk at ground level. Kitchenette sufficient, but no place to sit other than the bed, and no table from which to eat. Electric kettle was not clean inside, as if it had been used to cook. Breaker tripped on first attempt to use microwave; owner talked us through re-setting it.

very convenient location. clean room with everything you need (you can add shampoo in the shower) the hosts are easy to contact and responsive, very helpfull

it was very noisy. The front door closes with a hellish roar, at 2 am it’s really scary. increased audibility from the next and upper rooms. But when the noisy guests moved out it was fine

Excellent location, absolutely perfect for a single person to stay at, everything I needed etc.

Lack of info in regards to check in

When we arrived, we found that: There wasn't a city view as stated in our emails from the property management team There were just 6 sheets of toilet paper and no refills! We were told that spare toilet rolls were in a cupboard under the stairs, this was not the case (photo to back this up available) Just one bowl for breakfast! The shower had quite obviously not been cleaned properly as there were a number of hairs in the shower tray The exterior of the cabinets had not been cleaned as there was what looked like a soup or coffee splatter down the side of one of them (I have a photo of this). No wine glasses No conditioner No shampoo No tea/coffee maker

Nothing, absolutely robbed my money, I couldn't stay for an hour in that place

This is the worst and most deceiving advertisement I have ever encountered on booking. Its neither an apartment nor luxury. They claim with the property that there is a dining area, dining table , seating areas, coffee machine, a computer, garden view ( actually its view on a tiny alley at the back of the property) and even water sports facility on site. They didn't even respond to my message, they refused refund when I complained to booking. Booking.com said they cannot do anything about it

Too expensive for this type of facilities and environment. We had a rented car so we booked this place as it stated with parking. They didn't have it, so we had to park 15 minutes-walk away in the train station. Very difficult to find the place as signage for the apartment number was confusing in that area. We asked some residents in that area, they were unfriendly and asked us to not park at their place. Quite scary for foreign visitors in this area; we feel unsafe. They don't have fans in the unit, making the stay in summer very unpleasant (so, we spent the day in the nearby shopping mall for the air-con). We booked this place for it's proximity to the bus station for catching a bus to Heathrow airport for our plane the next day, a wrong decision as this place charged over the roof for it's type of facilities. We have to be more careful the next time we book accommodation in a city. Need to feel safe first.
