Home Away Tioman Island

Everything!! Location - the beach is right at your door step while the jungle on the other side. The room is super clean and neat. Like everyone else have said, Mama’s home cooked meals were delicious. Shukri took us for a half day snorkeling trip which was wonderful. Tioman has one of the nicest and well preserved underwater world. We saw baby sharks, turtles, live corals and many more. The beaches were very clean and beautiful

Nothing - we LOVE everything about this property but just to share some tips: book dinner with Shukri if you’re arriving later in the evening as there are not many eateries that are open at night. Also bring water shoes as some parts of the beach have coarse sand and sharp broken shells

The host is very responsive and share all necessary details. The food at mama house is awesome

Lovely ‘basic’ accommodation on Tioman. 2 villa’s at the beach; palm trees to protect you from sun. Beds are good. Bathroom is fine. Small fridge in room for your personal water, sodas and beer. Allowed to BYO beer/wine, even at restaurant part. Which has basic interiour but the food is great! Owner mr. Syukri and his mother and his wife are doing the utmost to make your stay as comfortable as you like!

Don’t forget to bring cash. On Tioman there’s only one village (Tekek) with an ATM. Few rocks in the sea; just walk or swim around them. Shoes are not necessary but do give some comfort.

The property is strategically located within a short walk from the jetty and convenience store. But most importantly a cosy “private” beach area right in front of the room unit with beautiful sea waters for a quick fun swim.

There is nothing we didn’t like about the property because our stay was really good

We spent three nights in Tioman at Home Away in Kampung Genting and had a wonderful experience. The place is family-run, with a warm, discreet atmosphere that truly respects guests’ privacy. The food was excellent—fresh, local, and home made. What makes this stay special is the authenticity: the accommodations are run by the villagers, and the area remains beautifully preserved and peaceful. We also had the chance to enjoy great snorkelling and a waterfall excursion with the owner. Beach access was fantastic—right at our doorstep—with amazing sunsets. It’s the perfect escape if you’re looking to unwind and experience the real Tioman. Highly recommended!

A fantastic location right on the beach. Our family loved our time here. The rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable but the view is the stand out feature of this accommodation. Sitting watching the sunset out at sea is something I’ll never forget. The staff were amazing and arranged some fantastic days out at waterfalls and snorkelling. The food at Mama’s food house next door was delicious and part of the same family business. Lovely place and lovely staff!
