The Hive Great Yarmouth

Great communication from the owners. A really well cared for bed and breakfast. Such a comfortable nights stay, very clean, lovely warm room, really lovely bed mattress and duvet also noise proof and the curtains ensure it remains very dark. Communal kitchen area with table and chairs, microwave, shower had high pressure. The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations.

Everything was great

We booked as we had several house viewings in the area and we needed a base. The location was ideal. I was travelling with my disabled husband so parking as close to the door was ideal for him and I also had 2 small dogs ( They are used to travelling and are stroller trained which also made it easier for me to handle all and the luggage) The location was ideal for their walks and was near the beach and grass. We did not see any staff during our 2 night stay but I had the contact number of the manager and he was very helpful and any problems were resolved easily. There is the additional security of CCTV which is reassuring.

Small TV. No Chair/Chairs so had to sit on the bed but the room was probably too small to fit a chair (Double bed and bunk beds) We booked for 2 Adults 2 small dogs and disabled facilities for my husband. There was no hand rail in the shower or seat. There is a charge per dog of £17.50 each and I was only notified of this actual cost of this after booking through the agent. More information is required from the booking agent and also that there are no breakfast facilities in winter. I was given the wrong key code by the agent but the manager was helpful and a phone call solved any problem.

The room was lovely and clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower was great. Breakfast was served in a separate area which was clean with everything you needed to hand. Could make Tea and Coffee at any time which was handy. It was set in a very quiet part of town but the main amenities eg. shops and cafes were in walking distance.

No reflection on The Hive but I found the area unsuitable and although the beach was really near the approach over the dunes to it was filled with rubbish and sorts. There appeared to be men camping out in the dunes and in camper vans in front of the beach. I didn't feel safe walking alone on that part of the beach, which is a shame because its a beautiful place otherwise.
