Coastal Comfort Homestay in Santa Monica

Quiet area

We made a mistake reserving the room as it turned out to be a hostel type of room. Not expecting that, and grossly disappointed in our error-however if we had been looking for a hostel, this would definitely be our first choice.

There was no private bathroom. It was down the hall and shared with other guests that we didn’t know.

I couldn’t reach the owner until 2am with help from booking customer service. Scary looking roommates Unsafe housing Unsafe parking I wouldn’t stay here if I was a single woman.

Quite hard to locate the entrance to the place.. You are essentially staying in a room in someone's flat. This may be okay for someone looking to stay long term, but I was not aware this was the vibe and was really looking for a proper hotel/Bed and Breakfast. You had to tiptoe around the place as the walls are so thin and noise is an issue with neighbors.

The room and bathroom were clean. The linen smell good and we liked it.

The floor makes noise when you walk and the walls are so thin. The home has 3 rooms upstairs, and you can hear the other rooms and if they walk over night, the floor noise wakes you up. I could hear snoring from the other room. The mattress was very bad! I think the owner needs to change them as they are very old and soft. The bedframe makes noise. It was hard to sleep due to bed frame noise or floor noise.

A very simple room with details that were highly appreciated. The floors are a bit creaky and the noise travels between the three rooms but overall pleased as we found everything we needed including coffee, basic toiletries, and a parking pass. The shared area had a fridge, hot plate and microwave as well as the option to use a laundry room for which they provided detergent. The person that helped us was very nice. The location is very close to downtown Santa Monica. Thank you for being so organized, clean and thoughtful.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The host is very friendly and the property is situated in an excellent location, close to shops, public transport and beaches.

The kitchen sink got a bit clogged up during our stay and the washing machine doesn’t spin but other than that, everything was great!
