A little hard to find make sure you get there before dark

A wonderful small homestay with only two room, and we stayed at the top room which has stunning view over the valey. Green, lush, quiet; and it was good to be away from the hustlebustle of Ella. Location is some distance out from the towncentre (10 min with tuktuk)), but for us defintely only a plus and totally worth it. Erandi and Dinesh were the most amazing hosts, so extremely friendly, kind and helpful, and we wished we could have stayed much longer but unfortunately else somebody booked ahead of us for the next night, so we were too late. So dont hesitate, grab the spot, especially the top room, if its available. Breakfast (Sri Lankan) was really great, we loved it. Thank you dear people, keep smiling!

The view is breathtaking and the owners are extremely nice. Great terrace to sit in the evening and tasty breakfast in the morning. Far from noisy Ella.

The room was nestled in nature, super spacious and very clean. The breakfast was AMAZING! The host and her family was super friendly and kind to us. I forgot something very important at the property, they went out of their way to bring it to me in another city, I’m ever so grateful! Thank you for the great hospitality and kindness!

What a lovely stay we had ☺️ the most lovely family and owners! Couldn’t do enough for us, Rented a scooter through them too! Breakfast was always fab and we had dinner one night and it was delicious! The place itself is set back from Ella so it’s very peaceful and has the most amazing views over little Adam’s peak and Ella Rock. The room was huge and very comfortable! Thank you guys so much we loved it!

Brillant location with a fantastic view, but without transport quite a way out. We had a tuktuk, so it was ok. The top room has a very nice View over the hills. We also had dinner there, which was very good. The hosts Are very friendly and helpful.

The location given by Booking.com is incorrect, so you need the exakt location from the host. The path towards it is very steep.

The property away from the busy streets of the main road , you’ll find a peaceful sanctuary here at Stone Shack . They provide tuk tuk services from the Main Street to the property at a very reasonable price. Furthermore , I have to say that the Dhal we were given for breakfast was the best I have had in Sri Lanka so far! They provide coffee and tea which was lovely , and we had an amazing view! Lastly , walking around the property at night was breathtaking as there was not a lot of light pollution and we could see lots of stars ✨

Nothing the property was welcoming and cozy . There was an incident however that had happened to my partner on our stay there which was not related to the property . But I will explain this so that other guest will be mindful of. My partner and I will was heading out and we decided to walk down instead of taking a tuk tuk or bike . On our way out past the neighbours house , there were two dogs that was barking aggressively at us and one bite my partner in the leg . We went to the hospital to get her an extra shot for rabies . Eventhought this incident was not related to the property at all , the owner was so empathetic apologised for the unfortunate situation and even offered to drive us for free to the nearest hospital to help us with getting a vaccination . We had to go to another hospital which was 21km away There at the government hospital 21 I’m away from ella , our driver even stayed and helped us to translate everything and was extremely helpful and. I don’t think it would have been that smooth for us if it wasn’t for the help from our homestay owners . Thank you so much for your kind hearted nature ! BOHOMA ISTOUTI 🥰

The property has an amazing view to the mountains. We enjoyed to see some sunrises, the monkeys, the birds and the green of nature. The accommodation is nice, but needs a bit more attention when we talk about bathroom. The breakfast was really good. Was different every morning, plus we had the dinner and was delicious. Bare in mind that to reach the accommodation, you need a tuk tuk being out of the Ella town. We enjoyed walking and see the beautiful surroundings. The owners are lovely. Absolutely lovely. ☺️

Incredible stay at Stone Shack! We had the upper room with balcony and the view was incredible. Well worth staying slightly outside of Ella for! The room itself was perfect - really spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped. The family who run this homestay are just amazing. They were really kind, friendly, always made sure we had what we needed. They also used their tuk tuk to take us into Ella when needed at a cheaper price than most others. Amazing breakfasts too. In terms of value for money this place is really good compared to others we’ve stayed in at a similar price point. If we came back to Ella we wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
