De Poort Cottage

The nature around us, with all the sound of nature, was so refreshing. We loved the braai area and lovely big stoep.

Not a single thing!

The setting and quietness

Not great wood as the hot tub never got hot enough. Owners to please check upside down knob on stove . We were smelling gas on Friday evening and eventually turned gas off behind stove. Sat morning we found that stove plate was actually on and not off. This is because the knob was put on upside down.

The location was amazing and we loved the serenity

The wood was of a poor quality for braaing and for the hot tub as it didn't leave coals for the braai or hot tub . We had to buy wood in town.

Awesome location. Isolated, quiet and peaceful. The house layout is great and has everything needed for a good stay.

Huge amount of mosquitoes at night. No insect gauze or burglar bars so you can't leave a window or door open so no ventilation and the house gets hot at night. No aircon or fan to assist with fresh air. We wanted to braai in the evenings but couldn't due to mosquitoes. Insect gauze at the sliding doors and windows will be great. The electricity cannot support a hairdryer.

The sunrise, sunset and farm feel was just what we needed. We day tripped to struisbaai and waenhuiskrans and then came back to adventure walk and row on the dam. We found alot to do inside as well, I was reminded how to knit. Our boys enjoyed playing chess. 2 nights were definitely too short of a stay. We definitely want to check out the other property soon.

The staff pulled up at 9.30am, they were not friendly and we felt a little rushed as check out was only at 10am.

The cottage was real value for money. I couldn't ask for a better get- away. The sounds of the different birds were mesmerizing. I'll definitely book there again.
