The Jolly Sailor

Room was very clean, with a kettle and plenty of tea, coffee etc. complimentary soap & shower gel. Access to a fridge for storing my breakfast. Separate access so didn’t have to go through the pub.

Bed very soft. Pillows very hard. Room door didn’t deadlock from inside. Clear window in shower room (but had a blind). Overpowering smell of air freshener which, after switching off the freshener, gave way to cooking fat smell. Breakfast served from 9am which was far too late for me so didn’t get to try it. I had telephoned ahead to check this so took cereal and a pint of milk with me. No price reduction for not taking breakfast.

The staff behind the bar on the evening were very friendly.

We noted our arrival time as 5pm-6pm, however when we arrived at 5:45pm our room wasn’t ready and we were told someone was just finishing cleaning it. When we finally got into the room, it didn’t look at all clean. The windowsill had dead flies, dust and other dirt on it. The bathroom had not been cleaned from the previous booking as the bin had rubbish in it, the sink was dirty and there was a half used bottle of soap/shampoo in the shower. The pub itself is nice although the mens toilets appear to have a plumbing issue as the floor was covered in urine which we could smell in our room.

Staff were great, location was perfect

We liked Everything everyone was so friendly even the locals they made us feel so welcome we stayed for the weekend for a wedding but on the Saturday we left the wedding early to come back to the jolly sailor

Easy to find. Really friendly staff. Excellent food

Easy access to room. There is plenty of out of sight parking. Staff were very friendly, and everything was provided that's necessary. It's really great value for money. Everything was clean.

The electric shower was very temperamental and could easily replace something a bit more user-friendly and modern. The Shower itself was just a bit below standard.
