Ella Jungle Rock

If you are looking for peace and solitude, you will not find anything better in the area. Waking up in the morning and falling asleep in the evening under a waterfall, nothing compares to that. It is a balm for the body and soul. The hosts are helpful and willing, I felt at home here. The traditional Sri Lankan dishes from the hostess are delicious. I highly recommend it for people who like a quiet stay without the noise of the city. I extended my stay here for another week. I will definitely come back here next time. Ajubovan

An incredibly kind family takes care of this property. They cook the most delicious food and it is just plentiful. Price-wise it is far cheaper to organise your meals with the family then eating out in the tourist areas. The location was perfect for us, situated far from the bustle. The view of the waterfall outside our bedroom was simply stunning. The sound of it at night was so so so relaxing. The walk into town was in itself always an adventure. You can find various routes to walk to the waterfall/nine arch bridge from the accomodation.

Les deux petites cabanes ont été construites par le père de la famille, elles sont au milieu d’un écrin de nature et à proximité de la maison de la famille. L’emplacement est isolé, mais c’est ce qui fait tout son charme, d’autant plus dans une ville grouillante comme Ella. La famille a arrangé un tuktuk pour venir nous chercher de la gare, et c’est également avec eux que nous avons vu pour notre trajets quotidiens, il sont de bon conseil et très arrangeants. Depuis notre cabane, nous avons une vue magnifique sur la cascade qui est littéralement dans le jardin, et sous laquelle nous sommes allés nous baigner avec joie. La mère nous a préparé plusieurs repas, tout était délicieux. C’est un endroit hors du temps, très bien aménagé et au contact de la nature, au calme.

On a beaucoup aimé être isolé mais c’est à savoir quand vous réserver pour ne pas être étonnés. C’est un endroit où vous aurez envie de passer du temps et ralentir.

Wir hatten einen wirklich tollen Aufenthalt im Ella Jungle Rock. Die Unterkunft lag wirklich mega am Wasserfall und man konnte richtig toll in der Hängematte vor dem Häuschen entspannen. Auch Wandermöglichkeiten gab es genug ohne mit dem Tuk Tuk irgendwo hinfahren zu müssen. Die Familie war zudem super herzlich, hat uns zu sich eingeladen und wir haben die Abenden zusammen verbracht. Das Essen war super lecker. Wir würden die Unterkunft immer wieder wählen und jedem empfehlen.

Estas en mitad de la jungla, es una pasada para amantes de la naturaleza y la familia que lo lleva es encantadora. Nos dieron de cenar un curry delicioso y el desayuno era abundante y riquisimo, todo casero. La habitacion es comoda, y hay agua caliente. Dormir con el ruido de la cascada es genial y las vistas son preciosas. La pena es que estaba lloviendo y no pudimos disfrutar tanto de las actividades que ofrecen pero tiene que ser estupendo poder estar unos dias bañandote en las pozas, haciendo trekkings y haciendo yoga.

No apto para gente poco aventurera o que no le gusten los bichos. Solo diria que el acceso es un poco complejo para gente con mala movilidad y no estaba muy avisado.

We had a wonderful stay thanks to a wonderful host family. They welcomed us warmly and made everything easy for us, making truly delicious food (a lot of it!), ordering tuktuks, and helping us find buses. One of us got ill during the stay, and they were so kind, giving us some medicine and driving to town to buy fruits for us (without asking any money). We had a hard time leaving them! Besides all this, the location is truly phenomenal, probably one of the best in the area. It is far from the town crowded with tourists (which may be a downside for you but definitely a pro for us). It takes a tuktuk and a hillside walk but then you arrive in paradise. The hut has everything you need, and faces a magnificent waterfall and a bridge where the famous train passes by every now and then. From the hut you can walk down to the river and find a quiet swimming spot or you can hike up to Ella rock. For nature-loving people, it's great. We can't recommend this place enough, it's a stay you won't forget.
