"Lovely flat"

9.0

The flat is very roomy and the decor is very modern. Tea and coffee were provided, which was a lovely touch. The main bedroom looked very comfy. The heating was not on when we got there, but after working out how to turn it on, the flat was lovely and warm. Apart from the second bedroom, which was freezing to the point, we had to wear pj's and jumpers to bed for 2 nights. Luckily, blankets were provided, which helped. We did contact the owner on the 2nd day, and he gave us instructions, but we still couldn't get the heater to work. We found an oil filled radiator, but it still did not take the edge off how cold this room gets. There was no issue with the rest of the flat, though which stayed lovely and warm. It was great that it had a second bathroom. The only other downside was how dark the stairs were to get to the front door when we arrived in the evening. It really could do with another outside light apart from by the front door. There were solar lights wound round the railing, but they were not working, unfortunately. This really is a lovely place, and I would stay here again if those little snags were sorted. About a 20 minute walk from the train station, which was ideal for us, but be prepared for a good workout as it was quite hilly in parts. We learnt our lesson and got Ubers when we went back!

"Could have been a much better stay. The house has some h&s issues and is very cold.."

5.0

House was nice in some ways, front room had plenty of sofa space for the three of us. We were able to use amazon and nextflix accounts. Kitchen has the basics although microwave is so high its dangerous. Warming milk for coffee was tricky. The house was freezing as heating was off. It was freezing temps during our stay. For an old house it took hours to warm up. We managed to turn it on but the hallway and bathrooms stayed freezing as the towel rails didn't work and the hall is tall and open.

The twin room at the back was colder than anywhere else (bare stone walls and an external door) and the heater which is a storage heater was broken. We were given a standalone heater but didn't like to leave it on while out or asleep as we considered it a fire hazard, so was always freezing when we returned and in the mornings. No bedside tables or lamps in the twin room totally ridiculous. Who doesn't provide bedside tables? Both bathrooms have light sensors and the main bathroom one goes off when your in the shower which is so dangerous as you have to get out to trigger it. The ensuite one goes off when using the toilet. Clearly not well designed and needs resolving. The sink in the main bathroom doesn't drain properly so washing teeth was a rather unpleasant experience. Water just sits for ages. The door handle on the front room side leading to the hallway kept falling off so my friend had to fix it using a pair of scissors to tighten the screw. As we were worried it could trap us one side if the whole thing were to fall out. I think the owners or managers need to do a lot better. As someone who rents a house out its not difficult to properly check a property and update things and fix them. Considering we were told the property had just been checked (clearly not properly) Re location "central" is not exactly true. Its a 20 min downhill walk to town. Which means its a 20 plus minute walk uphill back from town. We used uber but people need to be aware of this. Also people need to understand that the flat is down some old narrow steps as it's a basement flat, okay for some people but I would not recommend for anyone unsteady on feet or bad knees or back complaints etc. We managed okay a three young ish people but the house could have been a lot better maintained and better quality than it is. Also we did get fed up with repeated messages from the management team. We had about 5 in a row to leave feedback. It's a bit overkill.

"Cosy period apartment in wonderful location"

9.0

Such a lovely apartment in a wonderful location. We loved: beautiful period property, comfortable beds and duvets, thick towels, hot showers, well stocked kitchen for making breakfast, cosy lounge. The location was perfect, so close to the Crescent and a pleasant walk into town & 10 minutes walk from Charlotte Street Car Park (we were able to unload our bags outside the building before going to park). We couldn’t believe how silent it was (apart from birds singing) in the morning with zero traffic noise due to distance from the road. Very light living room despite being a basement apartment. There’s an outside light and also good street lights so you don’t have to come down the steps in the dark. And yes while the bathroom lights are on a sensor timer, if they go out the lights come back on with a quick wave of your arm (to reassure anyone concerned by earlier reviews). We will definitely return and have already recommended to others.

Nothing. Was lovely and cosy once we’d worked out the heating (was a particularly cold weekend)

"Nice place but needs some tweaking"

Location, clean and high quality fixtures and fittings

Badly lit and uneven steps that isn’t explained on listing. Twin room no bedside tables, plugs or lamps which isn’t ideal for adult guests

"Very nice apartment"

9.0

This is a lovely apartment with a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Two beautiful bedrooms with two very convenient bathrooms. A large living/dining room with a TV. Truly a very pleasant place to stay, especially for a family, in a quiet neighborhood, and I would definitely stay here again.

The light in the bathroom works with a motion sensor. So, when you enter, the light turns on automatically and switches off by itself. A good idea, but very unsafe when showering. I was in the shower when the light turned off, and I had to get out of the shower in complete darkness to wave my arms to turn the light back on. This is a major safety risk. Please adjust the sensor so the light stays on longer.
