Wood Palace Ella

A beautiful concept created with love from the most beautiful family with the warmest welcome. English was not quite their strong point and it is worth noting this property is not for the faint hearted or someone with a fear of heights, although like me, if you like challenging your fears this turned out to be an absolutely magical stay. It was so peaceful waking up in what feels like a birds next over a waterfall, squirrels rummaging around your nest comes with the package. I would also say the steep steps could be challenging if you might not like strenuous activity. The whole experience and challenges included makes for a unique and magical stay in my personal opinion.

Breakfast needs improvement, and there was barely any water in the shower

Perfect place if you want to feel you’re sleeping I. The middle of the jungle. Simple but charming wooden bungalow with stunning view of the surroundings. Very friendly and helpful family that runs the place.

There’s a steep climb down stairs to reach the house. Not for those having mobility issues.

Magical peaceful space set about 2k from the city of Ella, with a short tuck tuck ride to the city centre. A family run business who was so kind and nice. A big, healthy breakfast. A large double room with a big private balcony. Really comfortable bed. Would highly recommend for people who don't want to be in the madness and loudness of Ella. The owner arranged everything for us. He even recommended a lovely restaurant and dropped us to the door.

This is a unique property, exceptionally well crafted and filled with charm. It’s fairly basic but you have everything you need. The views are amazing and for us the location outside of the main town was a bonus, just a short tuk tuk ride up the hill (the owner, Chandana, has one. Lovely welcoming family, serving a good breakfast too.

Nothing really, we felt very welcome. Access is a little tricky but adds to the adventure and worth the setting.

The only good thing about this “hotel” is the view and the friendly staff .

The property has rudimentary doors that don’t work well. I had my stuff locked into the room and it took them one hour to break into the room to recuperate my stuff. You have to go down serious level of stairs and it is slippery, so if you have a mobility issue or just can’t deal with going up a hill avoid this place. Also, they don’t accept credit cards ! Another downside the sheets have an awful smell and makes you itchy.

An absolutely incredible place to stay! Our beds were super comfortable with amazing views across the valley. Breakfast was delicious and super fresh and the owner and his family were lovely and quick to help with transport and recommendations.
