"Kirbymoorside a small piece North Yorkshire"

10.0

The King's Head hotel is an Oldie/Worldie building plenty of history, parking is at rear on one way system if carpark full ask staff if more parking available. Has a large beer garden at rear very well kept on entering hotel was met by staff member (who we later found out was Chef) we were shown to our room which was up a narrow staircase the room was spacious bit tired but didn't spoil holiday. Nice sash windows original feature with a window seat most comfortable, bed was a Queen size with sprung mattress if you're not a fan it will keep you awake ( I had no problems sleeping) lightweight duvet as we were having a mini heatwave. The bar at hotel had it's regulars couple hand pumps made my taste buds excited wife was happy with her southern comfort, food menu was above n beyond we tasted most of the food, also had a special menu plus dessert. Breakfast was a good choice for all food tolerances plenty choice waiting staff very polite quick on the tidy up I'd recommend you try everything on Breakfast menu.bar was busy in evening with guests and outside trade booking for dinner, book early if you don't want disappointment.Lots of brochures on dresser outside in hallway you wont be disappointed with place's to visit or just enjoy the breathtaking countryside, if you're interested in antiques visit Ryedale auction house ( it's the home of The Yorkshire auction house Angus).we never stayed for Sunday dinner it looked mouth watering we will try next time, Staff are family so family business keep it going 10/10

Just needs a Tweek .

"If it wasn't for the stairs I would stay again. C"

8.0

Only had a light breakfast as going to a wedding. The porridge was so hot and tasty. As I am disabled the staff couldn't have done more for me. Superb bed, so comfortable. I

The shower unit could have been a little cleaner. Too many stairs for me.

"Disappointing but ok stay. "

4.0

We got “upgraded” to the cottage room which is in the courtyard of the pub. The room was big and had a separate lounge/kitchenette and bathroom. However the decor is very old fashioned and the toilet didn’t flush very well, the shower screen needs attention as water leaked when we had a shower. The front door sticks and is difficult to lock. We didn’t find the bed very comfortable and looks old. Breakfast was ok. The whole pub needs decorating and a good clean. It doesn’t look like there have been much investment in the pub for a long time. We only used it a base for touring around the North York Moors. There’s not a lot to do in Kirby Moorside, next time we probably would stay in a bigger town like Pickering.

"Enjoyable but not not overly memorable"

7.0

We had an evening meal on arrival which was as expected and breakfast on both mornings which were good. The staff were excellent and very helpful.

The shower was poor and provided very little water which was a disappointment given the hot weather during our stay. The bedroom doors had a very strong self closure which slammed the doors shut. We fully understand the fire safety and security implications but we were awoken several times late at night and early in the morning with other guests entering and leaving their rooms.
