Unique Narrowboat in Town Centre Chelmsford Essex

All needs a bit of tlc and repair

Lovely location, all the amenities are provided. Good instructions given for how everything works.

I would probably take some fold up chairs next time to be able to enjoy the surroundings more.

Quiet location, short walk to centre of town, bars, restaurants etc

WiFi would have been good. Parking a bit restricted but able to park on the owner's drive 10 minutes walk away.

Central location but not very scenic

Not convinced the bedding was fresh. Also worktops were dirty, breadcrumbs on the toaster etc. Leftover food in fridge. Coukd of had a hoover before stay.

We had a lovely stay on the narrow boat in Chelmsford. The host was very kind and helpful—he messaged me days before arrival with clear instructions and made everything super easy. The boat was cosy, clean, and well-equipped with everything we needed, including a kitchen, shower, comfy bed, board games, and more. Peaceful location with restaurants nearby and a beautiful sunset view. A truly unique and relaxing experience—highly recommend!

Difficulty parking to load/unload and then needing to park away.

Communication and help with questions about our stay was excellent. Great location for accessing the town centre. The boat is surrounded by blocks of flats which while pleasant do generate some noise during the night. The boat has all the facilities you could need and was very reasonably priced. Parking is an issue as you can’t drive or park right up by the boat. The owner however did kindly allow us to park on his drive which was only a short walk away.

As expected there wasn’t much room to manoeuvre inside the boat. Getting through the door is a trial for anyone of large stature especially while navigating a couple of steps. This issue carries over to the beds, toilet and shower. On warm days the boat gets pretty hot inside, you have to leave the windows open which leads to lots of flys and mosquitoes etc getting in. There isn’t much space to sit outside on the boat and those areas like the interior aren’t particularly clean or inviting. Towels and bedding are provided if you need them. The shower and toilet are pretty primitive with manual pump activity required to clear them. With being in a small enclosed space on the boat as well, it is difficult to air them and subsequently they tend to smell quite dank.
