The Experience Resort-Lake Facing

NOISE - The whole hotel was drowned in deafening noise from the next door club Bollywood Nights from 7ish to 10:30 every evening. This made the restaurant unpleasant, but worse, it was so loud in the bedrooms that it spoiled them. Plus there was different loud repetitive music played from 6-8:00 every morning non-stop. Other couples complained and checked out too. SHOWERS - the water in the showers only remained hot for three or four minutes which made it very difficult to wash hair and rinse the whole body and then took 15 minutes to warm the water up again. This is totally unacceptable for a boutique hotel. The bathrooms are tiny.. DINNER - we had our dinner in the restaurant io the first night it was vegetarian only, not particularly good and of course the music was very very loud. It was also one of the most expensive meals - we had to eat out the other three nights. DOORS - the bedroom doors were extremely difficult to shut because of their design. POOL - WATER was very cold and the large tree on the property meant that there was no sun either on the water or in the sunbeds next to the POOL

,the team was very nice, helpful,they arranged us a birthday cake, and special food for breakfast.

This was more than just a place to spend the night. This was a "home," a place where we could just be ourselves and be surrounded by smiling, helpful staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Yes, there are more luxurious properties in Udaipur, but where else would we get the warm, personalized service that made us feel like we were part of the Experience Resort family? Kalpana, the fabulous on-site manager, arranged a door-to-door trip to the Leela Palace for an unforgettable dinner, a superb cooking class with Dhungari Kitchen, outings to local sites, and transport to the airport. Without her help our visit would have been so much less rewarding and easy. Purni and Sabina's smiles and laughs in the dining area made our experiences so enjoyable, and by the way, we found the restaurant food to be excellent. We found our lake-facing room comfortable and relaxing, and the location is very good. But more than anything, it is the people which make The Experience Resort a place which we can recommend.

Guests will have to adjust their evening schedules and eat out late in order to avoid the nightly concert noise emanating from right next door. It finishes up by 10:15 pm. WiFi reception in the public areas was fine, but in our room it was very spotty. However, Kalpana helped set up a hotspot with a hotel phone to rectify the situation. She also provided a space heater when we mentioned that the room was too cool.

There’s lots to like. The rooms are very nicely designed and pleasantly furnished. The staff are delightful and the food excellent for the most part. Food is freshly prepared to order by an excellent chef and we ate well. The location is very convenient for the City Palace (about a 25 minute walk) although walking is sometimes a bit hair-raising simply because of the number and noise of the scooters going past. Special thanks to the charming and helpful Khalpna - all the staff are fantastic and are neatly turned out and professional. The laundry service is good and quick.

Sadly it’s noisy when you want it to be quiet. The bar next door has loud - very loud - music until 10.30pm. And then every morning we were there, from across the lake would come the sound of either chanting or music for a couple of hours. It’s such a shame. And then there’s the very limited supply of hot water, combined with a shower control that doesn’t work properly so it’s easy to waste what water you do have trying to get something approaching the right temperature. This, coupled with a room that we could never get warm, didn’t make for a particularly comfortable stay, although we were warm enough under the bed covers. The Bircher muesli at breakfast needs consideration - the recipe as it is isn’t right.
