Cardedeu Hotel Lago de Coatepeque

The view was spectacular with the caldera lake behind the lap pool that was right in front of the room. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the restaurant meals were superb. At the main restaurant, Raphael was my server for dinner and then again for breakfast (long work days!). I arrived before the restaurant opened being an early riser, and without a word he started serving me coffee until opening time.

I recommend staying in the upper main hotel. Being in the lower section of the hotel was great for the view and access to lakeside amenities, but VERY inconvenient for accessing the rest of the property. The hillside is extremely steep up to the main hotel with a winding road along the left or very steep (and somewhat unstable) switchback staircase straight up. I didn't mind the hike, but anyone with mobility issues or simply out of shape couldn't do it. Instead an ATV was used to move people up and down, which was ok to do. However, when I needed a ride up to a wedding event, dressed in suit on a very hot afternoon, I was charged $6 USD cash for the convenience! Then in the morning of my departure to catch an early shuttle to airport, I had to wait until the lower registration desk opened at 7:30, which didn't really happen until 7:45, to get a ride up with my luggage - at least no charge that time. The king size room amenities were lacking - only two large bath towels, no hand towels or wash cloths, no kleenex box and no telephone. BTW - The room was not serviced between my first and second night stay so I had to stretch my two towels.

The ground were immaculate. Great views. Food was very good.

The outside of the property was lovely but the rooms were just ok. There was no coffee maker. The pillows for a king bed were not even double size. They were tiny. There were weeds growing on our balcony. Just one chair on the balcony to sit on. I feel like most places we have visited in El Salvador… it’s all very new and now the people involved in tourism need to start to learn minimum expectations. We are not precious travellers… but for the price we are paying we def do expect nicer things. The rail had broken off the wardrobe bit… and no one had fixed it…. Please learn from what we are saying…. A lot of American and European tourists who pay $200 a night would expect these as minimal. We LOVED our stay in El Salvador and the people are amazing…we appreciate it’s all new for you… so hope you can take on this advice.

Beautiful views, nice ambiance

No fridge in the room. I asked for a quiet room. I got one with six air conditioning units attached to it. I couldn’t sleep without earplugs

I thought I wanted a room on the beach but was mistakenly given one on the hillside. They offered to change in the morning, but the room on the hill, with the semi private lap infinity pool, right out the sliding door, with al full view of the lake, turned out to be even better. It's easy enough to walk down to the lake for kayaking . And the landscaping was wonderfully elegant. The staff was kind and helpful.

The room didn't have a closet/place to put away clothes, a desk and chair, or a full length mirror. They brought in a comfortable chair, but though the room's view was beautiful, I was a little surprised at how sparse the room was. Of course the elegance of the pool made up for it.

The view was amazing, the service was perfect, they have people who speak English at the front desk even a little kart that can transport you from lake view to lake front cause the hill is kinda steep. We went there after 2 weeks of travelling thru Central America without hot water, we kinda need vacations in vacations 😂 and we got exactly what we were looking for! Room service we had drinks serve In our « private » pool and even breakfast delivered there! Thanks for the amazing time THEY HAVE HOT WATER 🚿
