I had the pleasure of experiencing several game drives at Jock Safari Lodge recently, and I must say that the expertise and dedication of our ranger truly enhanced the entire adventure. He exhibited an exceptional knowledge of the local flora and fauna, providing insightful information and making each game drive an educational and memorable experience. His passion for wildlife conservation was evident, creating a contagious enthusiasm.

My recent stay at Jock Safari Lodge was very unsatisfactory. Despite having high expectations, several aspects fell short, leaving a lasting negative impression. First serious concern was the oversight in addressing dietary requirements. The hotel staff sent me an email, requesting dietary requirements (type 1 diabetes). Despite clearly communicating the condition as a diabetic, it seemed this information was not taken into consideration during meal preparation. This lack of attention to a crucial aspect of our stay was not only disappointing but also potentially harmful to my health. Then, the "hot tub", a feature we were particularly looking forward to, was disappointingly dirty. To the extent that it was unusable, it greatly impacted our overall experience. Additionally, the mosquito net in our room had noticeable holes, failing to serve its intended purpose of providing a barrier against insects. Furthermore, the culinary experience fell below expectations. The food, regrettably, was more than average, and for the price paid, we had anticipated a higher standard. The overall gastronomic experience failed to meet the standards we anticipated. Moreover, the room itself had a musty smell, which detracted from the comfort we sought during our stay. Lastly, despite the fact that I paid online, the hotel requested my banking details, which made it sound like it was a scam! Considering the significant cost involved, the overall experience was far from what we anticipated, making our stay, unfortunately, a very disappointing one.

Great location with access to Kruger and their own concession

Property was good but was looking a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. Service in the restaurant was inconsistent.

Jock Safari has its own private consession so you can get closer to the animals and wildlife. This is a huge plus point for jock safari. The rangers are so knowledgeable about all of the nature around them. They know all the birds, the trees, the animals etc... The lodge is amazing. It's like being out in the wilderness yourself. Elephants come to the watering holes outside the lodge whilst youre eating breakfast sometimes... beautiful sight to see. The food is 5*, services is 5*, you meet some cool people on your drives. Sundowners in the park are wonderful and a lovely touch. Can't fault jock safari one bit. You'll be disappointed of you didn't stay here.

Nothing. It was all amazing.

We loved everything about Jock. For us, it was a little piece of heaven. We had the most incredible stay of our lives and made the most amazing memories, never to be forgotten. A trip to Kruger is a lifetime experience, and staying at Jock was definitely the cherry on top. If you're reading this and thinking of booking, then do it! You really won't regret it. The staff could not do more for you, you only had to think about another glass of wine and one was put in front of you. My gosh, do they love to feed you too, if it's not breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there is a morning or afternoon snack on the go. Definitely expect to eat your fill here! The rooms themselves are slightly on the small side, but this is more than accounted for in the outside space. A real must is a night outside on the daybed, I tried this (the other half wasn't brave enough), and it was an experience in itself. Our ranger Micha was absolutely incredible. What a true asset to the team at Jock he was. He had a way of ensuring we were in the right spot at the right time to see some of the most amazing widelife sightings you can imagine. His cheeky sense of humour had us on our toes, too, with him clearly enjoying winding us up with his "facts", he was just amazing. The little extras during the game drives, such as indulging in a rangers special (hot chocolate with Amarula) in some of the most spectacular landscapes are also memories to be forever cherished. Nothing is overlooked during a stay at Jock. Hopefully one day we will be able to return.
