Mango Beach House

We stayed at Mango Beach House for a whole glorious week in the beginning of March. Our hosts, Beth and Dullah, and their wonderful staff could not do enough for us and we immediately felt part of the family. We very much enjoyed the tastefully and intelligently refurbished lodge hotel where the strong water pressure guarantees a lovely shower at any time of day and the robust wifi makes it easy to stay in touch with friends and family. The beautifully presented breakfast includes fresh tropical fruit in abundance and eggs cooked to order as well as local specialities. The lunch and dinner menus offer expertly prepared Zanzibarian delights with a twist. Beth organises not just tuk-tuks and taxis to Paje, the airport and other places, but also excursions to the serene Maluum caves, the spectacular Mtende beach, spice farms as well as sunrise fishing trips in a dhow. Mango Beach House is the perfect location to explore the whole stretch of Jambiani beach and the village itself. All in all, it was seven days in paradise and we cannot wait to return. Lovely place, near boutique experience, but with a very sympathetic and extremely tasteful simplicity and beauty. Very picturesque and well located at the Giambiani Beach. The buildings use the sea wind perfectly which completely allows for no air conditioning. Staff are great and very helpful. Beth and Dullah are a blessing for their guests. Breakfast was very good and abundant.

As the sea is quite shallow for a long time and the tides are quite dominant at Giambiani, the lodge misses a refreshing pool. Luckily we could jump in the pool at the neighbor restaurant if we ordered something there, and a few minutes walking distance there is a resort with two great pools where you can be a day guest. As from June 2025 there will be a pool at Mango Beach House as well so then this will no longer be an issue.

Wonderful Vacation Days in a Great Accommodation I had the pleasure of spending a fantastic vacation here. The accommodation was not only beautifully located but also very clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful – I felt welcome from the very beginning. Whenever I had questions, both the owner and the staff were always there to assist me. The location was simply perfect! There were many restaurants and bars nearby, and the hotel is right by the sea – ideal for daily swimming and relaxing. The food was another highlight: freshly prepared every day and absolutely delicious. What I especially loved is that this accommodation is perfect for everyone – whether you’re traveling as a family, solo, or with friends, you’ll feel right at home. The rooms are also aesthetically designed and very cozy. Another great aspect was the help with planning daily excursions. The host assisted me in organizing my day, and everything was arranged professionally and smoothly. I felt completely comfortable and can highly recommend this accommodation!

We had an extraordinary and comfortable stay in Mango Beach House with renting the largest room, which had 2 bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom and 2 large terraces, one of which with sea view. The new management, Beth and Dullah, mastered a mammoth task with renovating, renewing and restoring nearly the complete complex within 6 weeks only with a great eye to detail and other plans are still developing… The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and go far out of their way to fulfil guests' wishes, even for the meals. Although of young age the cook is a little master of serving local food and dishes. A full range oft the freshest tropical fruits accompanies every breakfast. Also you can expect a fabulous in-house consultancy for your individual tours on Zanzibar. Beth and Dullah are always happy to help and support you and are connected with some of the best local guides, especially for Stone Town. It was a great pleasure to having met and kown you all of Mango Beach House. It was eventually you which made our journey to Zanzibar an unforgettable stay and we wish you all the best for the future and all the success you deserve. We’re missing you!

This accommodation was just fabulous. Such a perfect location , our room (Nutmeg) was right on the beach.It was so lovely falling asleep listening to the waves lapping ,and waking up to the beautiful sunrise . And The view from our balcony was just fantastic . There is a restaurant on site ,and bars and restaurants along the beach . Breakfast was delicious, so much choice , ( I particularly enjoyed the local porridge) and the staff were so attentive. You were really made to feel part of the family by everyone . The owners Beth and Dullah were great , so hospitable , always going above and beyond. They have recently taken over The Mango Tree House and made lots of improvements, and their future plans sound so exciting . We had stayed at a few other lovely accommodations around Zanzibar but this was my favourite by far, and I can’t wait to return. Thank you all for such a wonderful stay .

Although the room is on the smaller side , it was not an issue , and the views and the whole experience more than made up for that .

Wow! What an incredible place to stay and truly an unforgettable experience with the staff and owners. We were there during the New Years holiday and an exciting time for Mango House! It was during our 10 day stay there that new management/ownership officially took over. Beth and Dollah were fabulous hosts who provided us with a mix of local and tourist adventures, while also focusing on what is actually worth spending money on. They organized sailing and snorkeling with some of the staff, booked a tour of the south (which was AMAZING), and joined us for a night out in the local town! Both of them brought an energy and warmth to the accommodation! We, 3 people, stayed in the newly renovated Clove suite. The new amenities, furniture, bathroom appliances and general space were VERY well done and exceedingly clean. The cleaning staff, wait staff, and general faculty were attentive, capable and willing to help with any request! This place is truly unique and any time I consider traveling back to Zanzibar -Mango Beach House will be the place I stay!

Obviously, during any transition time, not everything can be perfect and there were some differences between the booking and the room. Mainly that there was a kitchenette listed in the booking but there weren’t any appliances in the room(s). The other issue was an abundance of ants in the space, some were on the floors and small spaces, others were in lines on the wall and in the bedroom. Obviously these issues were/will be resolved by the incredible staff that keep Mango House running.

The location is superb, being right by the white, sandy beach. The staff offered us sailing and fishing trips in traditional dhows, right from the Mango Beach House. Easy access to the village as well.

We needed an overhead fan in the bedroom, as the nights are hot.

This place is old and not well maintained. Extremly noisy. I can’t recommend.
