Hotel La Casona

Very basic hotel, but provided everything we needed. The common areas are open to the sky though. I'm not sure how good it would be during the rain.

The standard room does not include aircon, which you most likely need given the humidity! If you don't want to pay the extra though, you can just flip the switch in the fuse box outside the room!

I stayed at this lovely hotel for 6 nights while visiting iquitos. The location is fantastic- just half a block from the main plaza. The staff couldn't be friendlier, and greated me by name every time I entered or left. I don't know how many people work at the hotel, but there always seemed to be at least 2 cleaning the grounds at all times. The room was very clean, air conditioning worked great (which was amazing in the heat/humidity of Iquitos), and the shower was the best I have experienced after 3 months travelling in Peru. I had a room in the back, and there was absolutely no noise from the street. Would definitely stay here again.

Eclectic property halls, hotel one block away form the town´s center square, got the aircon room, clean rooms, slept well.

The hotel is very basic but clean and comfortable. Good value for the money.

Iquitos is a crazy noisy city . Once we entered the hotel , we felt relief as we left the kaos behind. The hotel was clean, nice lounge area and tables in courtyards. Spacious clean rooms, close to plaza. Staff very helpful ( I needed to print tickets ) . If you are going to stay in Iquitos , I would recommend La Casona. However, I would also recommend spending time at jungle lodge, to get a true feeling for the area.

Was blindsided a bit on this one, as the hotels.com listing would lead a person to believe that air-con is standard in all rooms. IT IS NOT. Upon checking in they told me I'd booked a fan room (standard single). This little detail is very important in a place as hot and humid as Iquitos. None of my paperwork specified either fan or air-con, so I didn't have enough room to argue. But in re-checking the hotels.com listing it just has air-con as standard and bed size as differentiating standard and superior, when really it's air-con. My room was 70 soles in local currency (about US$26) as a fan room and 85 soles (about $31) as an air-con. I paid the extra but felt blindsided (about $32.50 unanticipated expense over 6-day stay). Please correct the error. As for the hotel, it's basic and well-located. Most rooms have a window only to the hallway or small "courtyard," but this is just as well as street noise is high due to so many trikes being the main mode of transport. Service was fine even though there wasn't that much needed. Rooms have both a fan and a wall air-con, but you need the remote (i.e. to be paid up) to be able to work the air-con. Hotel wanted the account paid to the current date after two days and charges extra for using credit cards to pay, so be aware of that.

Great hotel for the price. Excellent location. Close to everything!

stayed only one night.not bad. the only thing is I didn't know u had to pay extra for an AC. it was super hot and humid. if u don't pay extra, they do have fans. not bad.
