The Lotus Palace Chettinad

Beautiful and comfortable room, in a restored old Chettinad palace. Convenient location for strolling around the village, and close to the main sites.

Given the price of the room, was a surprise to learn the in-room water cost 300 rupees (c £3) a bottle and no filter water provided, and the coffee capsules £1.50 each. Other activities were pricy too - 500 rupees for half an hour on an electric bike (earlier this year I paid 500 rupees for a full day. in Goa!). At this price point for the room, would have expected a bit more of the standard to be included in the price!

During our stay, we experienced the charming parrot joystham, a delightful cultural touch that made the visit even more memorable. As in-house guests, we were treated to their special red room an intimate, atmospheric space that felt both grand and cosy at the same time. The staff here truly elevate the experience. They are attentive, warm, and seem genuinely invested in ensuring guests feel at home. The comfort of the rooms, the peaceful ambience, and the little details in service all came together to make our stay unforgettable. Lotus Palace is not just accommodation; it’s an experience one that celebrates Chettinad heritage while offering all the comforts a traveller could hope for. Highly recommended for anyone looking to soak in authentic culture with a touch of luxury.

A small boutique heritage hotel. Very clean and quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful. Spa and the pool are fantastic! Food menu was limited but was well cooked and delicious! Overall fantastic hotel, staff and service!

The historic architecture was outstanding. The ambience enchanting. The large room with two armchairs was very comfortable.

Sometimes the staff at the restaurant interrupted us as diners too often. They would be better to observe at a distance and only offer assistance when we obviously required assistance.
