The Cotteridge Inn

The staff at this place are very friendly and helpful. We needed a very late check in and a staff member went out of their way to ensure we'd be able to access our room whatever time we arrived. The room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. No pressure to eat in, just relaxed and welcoming. We just needed somewhere to sleep and park our car.

I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel. On arrival there was a strong smell of drugs throughout the building, including in the rooms, and the property felt dirty and poorly maintained. Because of this, I did not feel comfortable staying and decided to leave immediately. I was told by staff that I could apply for a refund through Booking.com. However, once I submitted the request the hotel refused to approve it. I have since appealed through Booking.com but the property has not responded at all. Extremely poor customer service and a very disappointing experience.

No service at all. The day we arrived it had been snowing fairly heavy and we were unable to access the hotel. We tried ringing the hotel to find any alternative parking arrangements as the parking area was unsafe for vehicles as well as walking to the hotel door. After more than 4 calls, with no one answering our calls and trying to park our vehicle in the car park, we had to make other arrangements for accommodation. We did not receive any communication regarding the missed calls or why we had not arrived for our booking. Anything could have happened to us due to the bad weather which was occurring in Birmingham on the day. We cancelled our booking and asked for a refund, we did not receive any communication from the hotel, and we did receive an email from Booking.com to inform us that the hotel did not make any contact with them either concerning our cancellation. Very disappointed with the service.
