Nine The Boathouse

You have a short walk to the beautiful town centre, it's maybe not a place if you have mobility issues. The apartment was spotless. Everything you'd need was there, the area is very quiet and peaceful. The shower is excellent, sometimes in holiday accommodation it's hit or miss with showers/baths for pressure and temperature control, this one is great.

The location was excellent for walking into Rye. The Boathouse was clean, inviting and perfect for relaxation. Parking outside the property was a bonus. The bed was exceptional for comfort, and the shower was brilliant. The Prosecco and crisps were a nice touch, but a bottle of milk would have been a nicer touch (sorry). We loved to sit outside the property with a drink watching the birds and and enjoying the p&q. Communication with the owner was really good as were the instructions to find the property.

A microwave would have been helpful, also a freezer box to the fridge. The television is small and in an awkward position for viewing, although we did manage to alter the sofa position to accommodate that. We would have liked some black bags for rubbish and some cleaning liquids, also a clothes airer for wet items. The bedroom furniture, although lovely was impractical and cumbersome, leaving little room to accommodate clothes.

We were self-catering. The property was very well situated for access to Rye town centre although we used a different route from the one suggested. We liked having the outside area and had the door open most of the time. When the tide was in it was lovely to sit outside and watch the yachts pass by. When the tide was out, birders would be interested in the wildlife.

The property could have been cleaner. The furniture, especially in the bedroom was quite old. Some of the handles on the dressing table and wardrobe were missing. The TV would only transmit streamed channels and these were often interrupted by buffering. The screen was fixed to the wall and could not be angled and so we had to move the furniture in order for both of us to have a good view of the screen. We ended up using our laptop to watch TV. We didn't find any instructions for any of the appliances - oven/hob/dishwasher/TV. These would have been useful. In the bathroom the shower tray was very slippery when wet with nothing - door handle/shower column - to catch hold of if you slip. For safety a non-slip mat should be provided.

Perfect position overlooking the river + an easy walk to the town.

The only thing missing was an ice compartment in the fridge for a freezer block.Without one,especially when the weather is hot,meant that our picnic lunch wasn’t as fresh as we would have preferred. Other than that the house was perfect + we really enjoyed our stay.
