River paradise safari house - cooking class available

Posizione nel mezzo della natura, da tenere in conto perché non ci sono servizi nelle vicinanze. Pozione perfetta per il safari di Udawalawa National Park. Prashan,propietario della struttura, è suor Gentile e disponibile, ci ha cucinato il pranzo e la colazione con cibo tipico. Super consigliata la cooking class con lui, ci ha insegnato passo a passo le ricette ed é uscito tutto buonissimo.

The only reason why I did not give 1 star is the owner. A very nice person who at least made sure I got a tuktuk at 23:30 and did not make me pay for it.

There was a huge swarm of winged termites (alates) in the room. Bugs can be expected in nature, a couple of bugs (like 10/20) are perfectly acceptable. Not entire swarms. Same thing with the house next door, where a couple of german girls where staying. They also left the premises. Adding now that before I even finished my review the owner sent me an angry message saying "my shit review is nonsense" and "as a dutch woman be genuine". As a Dutch woman I AM genuine and will not lie in my review. He could have bothered to turn on a light before giving the all clear on the room, he did not. And sending me an angry message is not helping.

This place is a little paradise by the river – peaceful, very green, and surrounded by nature. We saw peacocks in the fields and many colorful birds like parrots, and Udawalawe National Park is very close (we even saw elephants by the road). The host was extremely welcoming and helped organize great trips to nearby temples and the elephant orphanage, as well as a taxi to our next destination. The rooms were spacious, clean, with fans, air conditioning, and hot water in the bathroom, which is not always obvious in Sri Lanka. Breakfasts were excellent and there was always plenty of delicious food, and eating meals by the river created a wonderful atmosphere (just bring mosquito repellent for dinner). Thanks to the host we also learned a lot about Sri Lanka’s recent history and had a really memorable stay.

This charming and wonderful cottage is located in a nature lover’s paradise! next to the river and full of wild birds and so peaceful!

Le repas bien trop cher, ils se rattrapent par rapport au prix de la chambre. Le safari nous a coûté beaucoup plus cher que prévu .. Nous avons eu aussi une grosse invasion de fourmi volante nous avons dû faire une partie du ménage à la suite .. attention au sangsue dans la rivière

We had such an amazing stay here and can 100% recommend this place. The location is truly something special – right in the middle of nature, surrounded by greenery and close to the river. It feels peaceful, remote, and authentic. The property itself is really beautiful and has a very cool, unique atmosphere. The house had everything we needed, and everything was clean and well prepared. A special mention has to go to the shower – warm water, great water pressure, and honestly one of the best showers we had during our trip! What made this stay unforgettable, though, was the host and his family. They are incredibly warm and caring people. From the moment we arrived, he took such good care of us and made sure we didn’t have to worry about anything. In the evening, we cooked together and shared an amazing multi-course dinner. Sitting together, talking, laughing, and enjoying the food felt so authentic and special. It wasn’t just accommodation – it was a real cultural experience. He also organized our safari for the next day and even drove us to our next destination. Everything was perfectly arranged, and we truly felt welcomed and looked after the entire time. This was more than just a stay – it was a genuine encounter with wonderful people. We would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and heartfelt experience. A wonderful stay in the jungle! Felt extremely safe as a solo traveller. Prashan was the most generous, friendly host - don’t skip his cooking class! He’s an amazing cook. Genuinely the most delicious meal from my 6 weeks in Sri Lanka. We shared many stories of our different cultures over dinner. The room was also super comfortable, modern and spotless. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again :)
