Delft Village Stay - Experience Based Local Island Stay in Jaffna

Like many other guests, we arrived with the intent of staying one night, and ending up staying longer as it was so lovely here. It’s for really good hostel vibes, everyone there is so kind and lovely, and the food is amazing. Staying in the tent was really nice, and not uncomfortable (I was initially a little concerned about being too warm), the fan was perfectly good. Plenty of chill out spots, hammocks, nice outdoor washrooms, and a well for cleaning with minimal salt water. The island has several small shops for snacks, drinks, ice cream, usual small general store stuff, but if you want specific things and fruit (other than bananas) maybe consider bringing with you. Though he wasn’t actually there, Tommy was very helpful in communicating, and his friend Kabi was hosting us, who was amazing Good friends have been made in our short stay here, you won’t regret it! 😊

The bikes worked, but have seen better days, I rode without brakes, but this just meant I rode in a slow leisurely way, and with virtually no traffic on the island other than bikes and a few scooters, you’ll be fine.

We stayed here and had an amazing time. They are very willing to make plans for you. They took us all on a boattrip. And every night they make the best dinner. This is my favorite place I stayed at in Sri Lanka. A big shoutout to tommyyy!!

Tommy is a very chill and friendly guy, who will help to make your time on the island unforgettable. We were able to join him and one of his friends on a fishing boat for sunset and he gave good recommendations to spend your time on the island. The accommodation is basic but amazing. Perfect place to unwind and enjoy this remote island.

If you want a unique experience in Sri Lanka go here!! We spent a few days here and made good friends, had great conversations and ate good food. Time stops on this island which feels great when travelling a lot. Thank you!

Beautiful setting, sleeping experience was wonderful, the bed set up was great with nets. Very relaxed environment, was fantastic to meet other people travelling at lunch and breakfast, food was buffet shared style, which was lovely. only point to be mindful of is that a menu is sent to request choices asking you confirm 4 hours pre meal/arrival, this really wasn’t relevant as ideally it appeared that the preference of owner was not in line with menu but to have same meal that’s prepared and cooked on the day. this was not an issue however we would have preferred not to have received menu at all, as felt we were then seen as making special requests when this is far from what what we wanted as we were happy to go with the flow and food was great, there is also a kitchen for guests to use and we were advised often people bring there own food to cook. we were not shown kitchen but others use this and were positive about it. It appeared to me that preference would be for people to be prepared despite breakfast and dinner being promoted as available . The huts were reminiscent of Thailand and India back in the day we would have loved to stay longer could we have done so.

Nothing

Comfort and the place is maintained as it is advertised. During my stay my things were taken care properly and during problems tommy will be there for help 24/7. So far this is the best place I stayed in Srilanka. Actual plan for the stay is 1 day but it ended up in 3 days 😊

The chilled vibe that Tommy has created is fabulous. The beds were comfortable, pedestal fans are provided and theres filtered water to refill your water bottles for a small fee and to help lessen the use of plastic. Beach is a 5 minute walk at the end of the lane which was my highlight!

Dinner was at 8.30pm basic & simple, but a bit to late for my liking. The bikes could do with some TLC as they weren't comfortable to ride any great distance. No towels provided.
