Delft Village Stay - Experience Based Local Island Stay in Jaffna

The most remote island in Sri Lanka - and it's true. An absolutely unique experience by itself. Add wild horses, flamingos and lots of other birds and you have something that you can't find in sri Lanka

The beach itself can be disappointing and murky waters of the ocean (probably some calcerous sediment from corals). Other than that - everything peachy!

The rustic, back to nature, no frills vibe

Fantastic. Well managed family Homestay. It is an authentic, rustic experience (so there are no hot showers etc it’s so hot it’s not necessary). Great food in a beautiful location and wonderful people. I wished I could have stayed forever. Very tranquil.

The accommodation is right in the village and just a 5 min walking distance from the most beautiful sandy beach. You sleep in big tents, which have fans, mosquitoe nets and chargers. The staff is really nice and the island is beautiful. They say you should not expect a hotel stay which makes sense, but we thought it was so much more than that because it just feels like paradise. You have hammocks all around the property and areas to just sit and chill. You can rent bikes for the island and explore the nature and wildlife.

Nothing!

The place was exactly what we were looking for: a peaceful spot, surrounded by nature, frequented and run by TOP people! Our tent was perfect – two fans for the night, mosquito nets, and a beautiful outdoor area with personal chairs and table. Bathrooms were good, and the shared spaces were very well designed. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding. Tommy, the host, is exceptional – we felt totally at ease with him and his whole team, who were incredibly attentive with our 7-year-old rascal :) Since we come to Sri Lanka almost every year, we’ll definitely be coming back to Delft Village Stay!

Absolutely nothing – we loved everything

I travelled with my two teenage sons and we had a lovely stay. The atmosphere is very relaxed, friendly and welcoming. The huts are great and the food is delicious.

Delft Village Stay is a wonderful, unique experience. Set on a beautiful remote island, with narrow cobbled walls and palm trees, this place really feels like you’ve stepped back in time. Take a shower directly from the well, or in one of the 3 outside showers, where you can gaze up at the palms, or the stars. The home cooked food is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is always so relaxing and warm. There are plenty of hammocks to chill in, and swimming from the local sandy beach is a daily must. I booked 3 days and stayed 3 weeks! Come and experience this wonderful hideaway, you won’t regret it!

Very nice place with own authentic atmosphere not a standard sri lankan place. Very well decorated place. Option to take bikes and discover the island. Very friendly personnel. Also very good fokd available for breakfast and dinner. Super close to the cleanest beach i ve seen so far.

Only remark that there was no mosquito net in my private tent. The other tents did have the nets and it helps a lot against mosquito bjtes.
