Beware! Unfortunately, this resort is failing and recently filed for bankruptcy. The unit we stayed in was beautiful, but we quickly became sick and I believe there was mold. Many photos circulating, show an exterior with three gorgeous pools and slide. Those are old photos of the neighboring resort (see Outrigger Kauia Beach Resort & Spa) which is also experiencing a lot of disrepair) I found out only after I booked at the villas that their guests were no longer able to use the amenities from their neighbor. The villas have a small / singular pool for use that may or may not be open. People need to know the risks of booking a property which is bankrupt and going soon to auction.
Club Wyndham Kauai Beach Villas Wyndham Property Review-1 Star The property is outdated with some rooms old and in need of serious upgrades. Some rooms have boarded up old air conditioners, while if you are.lucky, your room is on the bottom and was upgraded due to flooding. Still, the furniture in the livingroom looked like '70's furniture, with stains included. The lack of a gym facility, or other onsite activities is inconvenient for those wishing to exercise daily. The pickleball/tennis courts and basketball outdoor areas are very old and outdated/unappealing/unusable. The limited amounts of umbrellas and chairs for guests is disheartening, when you have a beach day planned and are left with nothing. The old condemned buildings on the north end of the property are an eye sore and very unappealing to a first time visitor to Kauai. We woke up to chickens at all hours, 2 a.m., 4 a.m., and the loud roar of neighboring race track, which I initially thought was tree clearing equipment. Our room windows were on parking side, so sadly, we had this to contend with. For these reasons, we would never return or recommend this property.
The villas and adjacent Outrigger Resort are undergoing MAJOR remodel/ renewal project. We were not advised of this potential. Surprising as we booked only 4 months prior to arrival. Then in the couple of weeks prior to arrival, we received alarming e-mails of disruption and lanai/balcony restrictions, that on arrival appeared overstated. Very counterproductive style of communication. Beware: our stay was tainted by the above before arrival !!
ITWe did not stay there, because of a mistake booking.com made with description of room and assignment of wrong apt for 5 people, we had to find out own accommodation at double the price.
Wrong assignment of apartment wrong description on booking website. I asked booking for refund and compensation.
USI do not typically write reviews and we are not terribly high maintenance travelers. However, I feel people need to be aware of what they are walking into at this property. The good: it is conveniently located on the island (near the airport and centrally located to easily visit each end of the island); it was clean and the staff was nice. However, it was such a shame to see what could be a great property in the shape it is currently in. The balconies on the units are closed due to safety issues. The buildings with a potential ocean view are completely closed (so do not expect a room with a view). The air conditioning units have failed so there are odd floor unit air conditioners vented out the windows with duct tape. The carpeting and living area furniture appear to be original and are sad, outdated, uncomfortable, stained and just overly bad. To the point that we did not want to be in the unit except to sleep. There was an odd smell of old carpet and mustiness. The mattresses and bedding were completely fine as were the linens. The kitchen and bathrooms were seriously outdated but were clean. The grounds were pretty (it is Hawaii) but you could tell they were also outdated and in need of some TLC. Overall, if you just need a clean place to lay your head it will suffice. If you are looking for anything more than that I would go elsewhere. They also charged an additional cleaning fee for our stay only being three nights...I am assuming this is an attempt to just raise money to help with repairs and updates but it was a bit hard to be ok with paying it considering the state of the place.
CHLarge stains in carpets, counter tops arborite pealing. Lanais out of use due to unsafe conditions. Air conditioner failure, dishwasher drain plugged. We were pleased with the landscaping care and pool area was well maintained.
