Hotel Casa Poblana

Location in a quiet part of Bacalar, yet near restaurants and the town center. Clean, spacious room, comfortable beds, hot water, a patio deck with a view, and window screens on the windows. Family run, it felt safe and secure.

I liked my stay at Hotel Casa Poblana. The room was clean, quiet, and spacious. There is hot water for the shower, a rod in the closet area for hanging clothes, benches at the ends of the beds, and the windows have screens to keep flying insects out. There is also a deck outside with comfortable wood chairs and a view of the lagoon. The owners responded to my questions quickly. If I come back to Bacalar I would choose this place again.

The only issue was that the Wi-Fi seemed slow and sometimes drop.

Great location close to the lagoon, easy walk to the city center (15 minutes), nice and clean room with air condition, friendly owners. It was great overall and for good price.

Wifi could’ve been a bit better, but it was still somehow working.

Wow! So clean, so well taken care off, spacious, lovely hosts who showed us around and even let us in very late due to our bus delay. They even cleaned the room after one night stay and helped us with a taxi to the bus terminal. Would love to stayed longer, would come back! There are several nice breakfast places really close and the main town is 12 min walking.

The hosts and the simple vibe of this accommodation made this place like a home away from home. They were kind, simple, and offered a glimpse of a mundane but happy local retirement life. Beds were spacious, bathroom was clean, and filtered water is available. The place is also 5 minutes' walk away from a wharf on the lagoon where we could swim for free.

Location was what it was. It was a 15 minute walk to the centre of town but it was very humid so it was a bit of a drag to walk there. That said, the location also means that it was mostly quiet at night (there were some activities nearby on a couple of days which was loud but I don't think that was usual).

The place is very spacious, the air conditioning works well, and the host is very kind and helpful. It is possible to park safely in front of the house, and the city center is also very close.

Casa Poblana is ideal for a few days in Bacalar. Its only a few minutes walk from the lagoon and a few more to the town centre. Almost brand new A/C, there’s a communal kitchen, they also have the comfiest mattresses we’ve come across on our travels!

Some ants mainly outside but occasionally on the floor, but we understand these are hard to manage.
