THE LAKE Kawaguchiko-kurashi

The hosts went out of their way to ensure our stay was phenomenal. They also planned and coordinated requested activities like a Kaiseki meal, tea ceremony, kimono experience and musician. They also helped me forward luggage and helped w travel during a typhoon. The area was beautiful and with a car we saw so much. The details during the stay like our private chef, provided Japanese pajamas and such were so nice. The view of the lake was peaceful to wake to each morning. I wish we had stayed longer. The host and his wife are amazing people, the home is a must stay place!!

Nothing, it was all 10/10

The house is wonderful; for six adults it was perfect. The staff are incredibly friendly and ensured we had an amazing stay. The beds are comfortable and the house is furnished in the most amazing traditional/antique furniture. We highly recommend guests have one of the chefs come to cook for them; we had Chef Oishi and the food he made was incredible, a highlight of our entire trip. The staff went above and beyond for us, and even offered to organise emergency accommodation for us when a typhoon warning came into effect, and organised transport for us to make sure we got to our next destination. We cannot thank them enough, you made our first time in Kawaguchiko an unforgettable experience.

Nothing - it couldn’t have been a better stay. The only thing to note is that the local bus doesn’t run very late so you just need to organise your days around that if you’re planning to use it as your main form of transport.

It is such a beautiful place with a soul run by amazing people. The welcoming was so warm and personal. The house is beautiful. Traditional. Amazing❤️ 100% recommend. Thanks for having us!!🙏

Beautiful entire home, exceptionally clean, amazing view and owners are very kind

An excellent balance of traditional Japanese house with all the modern facilities. Private chef cooking breakfast and dinner was amazing. When we come to Japan again, we will definitely try to spend here few more time.

Our stay at the Lake was wonderful from beginning to end. We were kindly greeted at the door and served tea and delicious treats. The hosts were kind and accommodating and gave us a helpful tour of the house. The house itself is beautiful—traditional and spacious with thoughtful details. The views from the rooms of the lake and cherry blossoms were picturesque. We hadn't rented a car and the host and staff were super helpful in calling us taxis and making sure transportation was available. I also want to note that we had forgotten something special to us at the property and the hosts went above and beyond to make sure the item was returned to us. We really appreciated how kind and helpful everyone was—this made our stay here a true highlight of our trip. Thank you again for an incredible stay! We are excited to return and spend more time at this special property. We highly recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful stay at the Lake House. I would highly recommend getting the chef to come and cook an evening meal (ours was incredible) and also the early morning kayaking. The hosts couldn't be accommodating and the house itself has been carefully fitted out with anything that anyone would need. Staying here was a real highlight of our Japan trip.

It;s not that we didn't like this - just to point out though that the house is not right next to the lake; there is a quiet road in between the house and the lake. Also we found Uber to be the best option to get a taxi from the station as the queue was so long.

Das Haus ist wirklich sagenhaft. Sehr schön eingerichtet und alles vorhanden. Das Frühstück ist sehr japanisch, frisch, lecker und besonders. Der Koch ging sogar darauf ein, dass manche von uns Vegetarier sind. Man muss halt warme Kleidung dabei haben, da das Heizen schwierig ist. Aber das steht ja in der Beschreibung. Der Wirt ist sehr freundlich und hilfreich. Der Onsen nebenan super.
