Lovely location, beautifully clean ideal for a short stay. Would definitely stay again

Cooking facilities where the only thing for us, especially the induction hob.

"Overnight stay"

Set in a tranquil surrounding so it was lovely and peaceful the bed was really comfortable and was excellent for a nice relaxing break.

Everything was good but maybe an electric kettle should be considered as we found the kettle took to long to boil on the stove.

"A peaceful spot for a stopover or a couple of nights away"

8.0

Very comfortable bed with nice linens On site parking Good communication from the host Lovely peaceful spot with some good walks from the door groceries / takeaways within about a ten minute radius

We were travelling with dogs and the garden wasn’t secure , although that was clear from the description to be fair . If the garden was secure we would stay again .

"A walker's public footpath heaven."

6.0

Discovering Holcombe's huge number of exciting footpaths. I use GoJauntly and found lots of wonderful walks, all from the doorstep. Goat-herd with his big floppy-eared long-legged goats. Lovely bluebell woods, a great farm shop, and a sweet village. Easy walk across the back fields to Coleford which has TWO Co-ops! One with ample parking if you drove there. The farm shop is woefully unstocked on the groceries front (astoundingly awful! It is basically a very small gift shop, and everything is covered in dust!) so you do need the Coop. But the farmshop was BRILLIANT for sit down food and drink with superb customer service, and even had a little pub. I liked the biofuel stove in the cabin, and massively appreciated the warm radiators. Bed was comfy. Cabin was well equipped, even having a little freezer section in the fridge. Parking was perfect and the gateway wide enough for backing out in my L2 Combo van. Finding it was fine, in my opinion! I followed directions from the top of the unmade lane. I appreciated the owners' policy of leaving guests to it: I am not big on overly sociable hosts, haha!

Would have liked an air fryer. Much easier for short stay catering. Due to the being at the bottom of the garden in the trees and thickets, which was on the one hand quite sweet, it heightened my arachnophobia. In fairness, I did not meet a single spider, but I could feel them eyeing me up, haha! There are lots of gaping gaps in the floorboards which made me wonder about dust and hygiene, and my allergies were triggered, unfortunately. I would have preferred to unroll the clean towels myself: having them hanging over the radiator and on the baisin-side hook, and the bathmats already down on the floor, didn't feel right to me. Too many occasions finding used towels in hotels! I don't think that the hosts should hang out towels for guests, place them neatly rolled somewhere we can unroll them so we are confident they are unused. I don't like walking on bathmats with my shoes on! The shower and bathroom didn't feel as immaculately clean as I would have liked, certainly around the shower door join and the cupboard. The fridge was not as clean as it should have been. I am afraid due to OCD this is something I am very sensitised to, so it may be alright for others. For this reason, I was glad it was only a short visit.

"It was pleasant and we loved the area. Was it worth £150 for the night with no breakfast !?"

6.0

Quaint and nicely laid out. The area was lovely. It was quiet.

There were mice in walls and ceiling. They were very busy throughout the night. It didn’t bother me but my dog kept leaping around as he didn’t know what it was. Deep in countryside so you have to expect a bit of nature. The milk was out of date on 6th May.

"A beautiful little place, a perfect pocketful of peacefulness."

10.0

Perfect for us, close to where we needed to be, dog friendly, walks on the doorstep, cosy and quiet, added extras, coffee, tea, cereal, milk, all a weary traveler needs! And a really comfortable bed.

Liked it all.

"Somerset sunny break !"

7.0

Lovely lodge in a beautiful part of the country.

We struggled with the hob taking note of what was written but did eventually get there without bothering the owners. It may have helped if there had been a kettle to plug in and a microwave so the hob is used less. We normally carry a small kettle in our campervan but when we got the message about tight car parking we came in our car. Appreciate that the owners would have arranged other parking but we thought it would be easier. Otherwise a lovely place.
