Fort Traditional Guest House

Clean & comfortable, good internet, additional toilet downstairs a bonus. Loved the location, right in the heart of the old town and walking distance to the funicular. Really liked the terrace - gave us us some additional space for lounging and eating meals. Would definitely come back next time we're in Funchal.

Nothing worth mentioning

We arrived into Funchal airport ,got aerobus to Funchal Centro and met Owner who was finishing up cleaning. Fine we dropped bags and took a stroll up Santa Maria Rua(painted doors) and went for lunch at Barreirinha Bar Café,lovely!!! Host was very attentive and was available on WhatsApp for recommendations very regularly,

Main bed wasn't very comfortable and gave feedback to owner, this was our only concern. Everything else in the townhouse was very nice all modern facilities cable tv /WiFi Etc.

The location is really nice, in the middle of the old town and you can walk through Funchal easily. Close to the sea and beach. Nice cafes around. It's close to the Teleferico to ride up to Monte for the sled rifing.

The sofa in the living room was a bit hard, nevertheless we spent most of the time outdoor, so a minor issue in my view.

Amazing hosts, Received us at the property and explained to us about the area, parking, food and restaurants. Was always available on WhatsApp.

Was available all the time to help us. Nothing, really, a great host.

Fort's Guest House is in an amazing location in the old town of Funchal, with cafe's and restaurants literally on the doorstep. Marco (our host) was waiting for us with the key when we arrived, gave us a quick tour of the property, offered suggestions for activities, and let us know if we needed anything we just had to message him. The apartment itself is so clean!! The kitchen is well equipped with cookware, plates, glasses, a toaster, kettle, and cutlery. We appreciated the tea, Madeira cake, and the cookies left for us! There's a washer and a clothes rack, and with the wonderful weather in Madeira and the beautiful sunroom with floor to ceiling windows, everything dried quickly. Along with the kitchen and sunroom (our favorite room in the house), there is also a living room and a WC on the main level. Internet and tv were great. Upstairs, we found the 2 bedrooms perfect for our needs; the beds are comfortable and there's plenty of storage. The full bathroom was clean and there were extra towels, soap, shampoo, and a hairdryer available. This apartment felt like home and was perfect for our 10 day stay. Thanks Marco!!
