Waterfall Farm Self-Catering Cottages Citrusdal

Waterfall farm is een droomlocatie als je van rust en natuur houdt. Wij zaten in Honey cottage, leuk, oud huis met terras en uitzicht op de bergen. Twee pony’s, een pauw en hond Bobby lopen er ook rond. Alles goed verzorgd door Miriam en Henry. Hun dochter Rinsky bracht ons naar de prachtige waterval ( 10 minuten). In Citrusdal ( 10 minuten) grote supermarkt en koffiecafe. Het stadje zelf stelt niet veel voor. De sterrenhemel is fantastisch, voor de Melkweg schijn je rond twee uur ‘s nachts te moeten kijken.

I found the description on booking.com misleading. The mentioned toilet and shower are outside, the toilet is a "long drop", and the shower has only cold water. No basin inside the cottage.

Excellent, safe quiet location. The waterfall is magic, but it should be noted that it is a few kilometers away from the cottages and is a challenging walk. Book at least 2 nights and spend the entire day just at the waterfall! Take note that the day temperatures in this part of the country can reach 50°C in summer. The cottage was great, well-equipped with an additional wood burner that heats up a small pool. The view and scenery were fantastic and the large porch great. The farm experience in-between the citrus orchards was phenomenal. All the units are spaced well away from each other to ensure privacy. The ponies, dogs, cat, peacock all came to say hello. Make sure to take mozzie spray. The proximity to the tar road is an added bonus. The staff were fantastic and accommodating. The cottage had 2 rooms. Will definitely visit here again.

Please note that this farm is more a camping venue with small, very basic dusty wooden structures with outside showers, wash basin and toilets, solar/battery operated tiny fridge and bare minimum amenities. It is not suitable for older people unless you book for a family in the cottages. The images on this website is misleading and should be corrected per unit so that one knows exactly what you are getting as the basic structures are in stark contrast to the cottage. Alternatively make sure to contact the farm before booking. We were allocated a camping unit for 2 (which was not suitable for us at all) but the owner & staff graciously accommodated us in a cottage as there was one available at no extra cost. This was our most expensive stay and if I take into account the R1800 paid and the original wood structure unit allocated, then this venue is very expensive, and I would not have booked there at all.
