Playa Grande Resort Optional All Inclusive

Great location, secure, and yet close to marina and downtown. Well maintained and wonderful staff.

A bit pricy. Seems to have gone up in price.

The pools were great! Loved the scene by the pool, very pretty and clean. Good drink/ food service there too.

Our showers temperature was super messed up. Was either burning hot or freezing.

We loved the size of our studio room and the Pacific Ocean view. The property was very beautiful and well maintained. Great location to everything too.

The front desk kept losing the reservation, we were moved 3 time in the first 4 days. I paid for the hotel stay twice,

The staff was pleasant, the location near the marina was nice but had to walk to swim at the beach. The pools and hot tubs were nice and there were some good activities. The room was quiet (we were also 2 elevators away and in a basement level). There was a nice gym.

I've read other reviews so I would just say BE PREPARED to pay for everything. We got the breakfast inclusive, because we like to go out and check out the town. We had breakfast inclusive and were wrongly informed that we could get breakfast at all the restaurants - just check that - we got charged 150.00 the first am because we went to the wrong restaurant. I would assume that breakfast would include coffee (typical) and bottled water but we were charged 7.00 for a coffee the first day and for two bottled waters (another 10.00). Once we learned that, we started to fill up our waters at the gym (I understand paying for water, but when you get breakfast included this should be part of the deal). The advertising is a little misleading - "ocean front" but not swim-able. I was fine walking to Merdano beach (about 15 min away) but if you have kids that don't want to walk, a shuttle is 30.00 round trip. They also advertise all these amenities (we were excited to try mini golf and play tennis) but those are extra fees. Our daughter was celebrating spring break and stayed at Riu, they paid for all inclusive, got free bottled waters, and food throughout the day. If you pay for all inclusive, don't expect snacks or other food for kids throughout the day - you will be charged. If you do stay here, I saw many people take a shuttle to the grocery store to stock up which we ended up doing. There is a nice kitchen and we boiled water every am so we didn't have to buy bottled water. The restaurants here are expensive and I would recommend going to any where on the marina or on the beach. Food not that great. We also tried to cancel our room the last three nights, and Booking would only let us cancel for two nights, but we needed a 3 night min to stay anywhere else. So Booking was not that helpful in this endeavor - as much as we use them!
