Honjin Hiranoya Kofukan

Location was good. Breakfast would have been better with Western hot food and or cereal.

Breakfast was a mystery to start with. It would have been helpful to have an explanation of what to do.

We stayed here one night and it was our first ryokan experience. The staff are very welcoming, helping us with our car, showing us to our rooms and dinner service. The location is spectacular as you're right in the center of Takayama. We were there for our birthdays and they provided us with a beautiful room with a great view. We also had an evening massage in our room which was a lovely way to relax. My partner loved the rooftop onsen and sauna available. I only visite dthe onsite ladies onsen and it was lovely! Overall a great first ryokan experience.

We felt a bit rushed when we were checking in. I understand that there's a lot to go through and confirm but we felt a bit overwhelmed when we arrived to make decisions and answer all the check-in questions. But we realize that there's a rush service and things need to be done.

This hotel was one of our highlights during our travels in Japan. From arriving at the station to leaving - the staff were so kind, helpful, welcoming and made sure we had everything. The room was exceptionally clean, the beds were so comfortable, women’s only onsen was out of this world. Location was brilliant, so close to the old part of town. The dinner and breakfast - what an experience! We were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary and the staff made it so special for us. We would love to come back! Thank you for making our stay so special!

시라카와고를 다녀오는 일정에서 제가 제일 걱정했던 건, 짐을 찾고 다시 게로로 가는 기차를 놓치지 않는 거였어요. 시라카와고를 가려면 보통 다카야마 역 근처 호텔에 많이 묵는데, 이번 여행은 엄마랑 함께라 온천이랑 가이세키를 꼭 즐기고 싶어서 역에서 조금 떨어진 료칸을 선택했어요! 료칸 자체는 당연히 좋을 거라 생각했지만, 위치가 역에서 도보 15분 정도라 체크아웃 후 “짐 보관”이 가장 큰 고민이었어요...... 체크아웃하고 짐 맡기고, 아침시장 보고, 시라카와고 다녀왔다가 다시 다카야마를 거쳐 게로까지 가야 하는데, 게로 숙소는 6시 전에 체크인을 해야 해서....하...일정이 정말 빡세보였거든요.ㅜㅜ 그런데 체크인할때 체크아웃 등 세심히 물어보셔서 이런고민이 있다고 얘기했더니 “teddy"라는 분이 심플하게 해결해주셨어요. (체크아웃할 때 그냥 딱 몸만 나옴ㅋㅋ) 엄마꺼 짱큰 캐리어랑 + 저의 일반 캐리어까지 전부....직원분들이 ‘알아서’ 역 바로 앞 Otaka 상점(호텔에서 운영하는 가게라고 하시더라고요) 에 맡겨주셨어요. 덕분에 짐땜에 왔다갔다하거나 코인락커 자리 없을뻔하거나...잡 걱정 없이 편하게 시라카와고를 다녀왔습니다. 감사해유 ㅜㅜ 짐찾을 때 정신이 없어서 (눈길에 어그를 신고 갔다가 발에 물이 차서 멘탈털림) 가게에서 아무것도 못 샀는데... 끝까지 친절하게 대해주셔서 더 감사했어요. 료칸은 관광지 안에 있어서 늦게까지 돌아다니기 짱 좋았고, 특히 저녁 가이세키 때 서비스가 폭풍감동이었어요....맛도 괜찮았고 무엇보다 엄마가 육류를 못 드셔서 미리 말씀드렸더니 해산물 위주로 메뉴를 잘 바꿔주셨고, 생일이라고 전하니까 노래 불러주시면서 작은 선물까지 챙겨주셨어요. 엄마가 진짜 감동하셨어요. 진짜 감사합니다. 덕분에 효도 잘 했습니다!! 위치 때문에 고민했던 게 무색할 만큼, 배려 하나하나가 기억에 남는 료칸이었습니다. 만약 다시 오면 여기 또 머무를 것 같아요+_+ 자꾸 엄마가 옆에서 후기 잘 써줘야한다곸ㅋㅋㅋ찐감동하셔서그런듯ㅋㅋㅋㅋ별5개 만점이면 500개 주라고....ㅋㅋㅋ여튼 다른 효녀들에게 보탬이 되길 바라며...

This was our third time staying at the Honjin Hiranoya Annex and once again everything was great. The facilities were spotless, the food was delicious and the staff was great. We will definitely stay there again when in Takayama.
