The location is stunning. The views from the private decks over the river are fantastic. We loved the common areas, especially having a glass of wine in the lounge after an afternoon of walking the beautiful town.

The rooms could have better seating, otherwise, no complaints.

Most of the staff speaks good -to- excellent English, making it easy for foreigners. Contrary to some websites, yukatas are provided for free, and guests have a choice of designs when checking in. Meals are served in private rooms on the second floor, which allows the staff to serve a large number of people efficiently. The food was varied and fresh, though it wasn’t extraordinary. It’s easy walking distance to the old town, and the women’s-only hot spring is a plus.

Maybe I didn’t try hard enough, but the outdoor men’s bath on the 7th floor doesn’t have a view once you sit in the water
