The Clovelly Bungalow

The house looks lovely, the bed is very comfortable and the breakfast buffet is plenty and big, room service’s desserts (millionaire’s cake and cheese cake were great)!

It took 2 hours and several calls for room service to arrive - the food arrived cold and it tasted really bad (curry was precooked and still arrived cold, although clearly not fresh, chicken schawarma was a joke -do not order it), we stayed at room ivy crest and every night at 00:02 we got a wake up call playing music(which we never ordered) also was annoying beyond measure and was not resolved by the staff, when I called front desk nobody picked up - I had to walk to the other building , the whirlpool is leaking heavily- which means when you use it, the whole bathroom will be under water

We stayed in the bungalow which is pretty, but as other comment mentioned it is part of a larger complex that is bit tacky. Staff’s English was not very good but Dilrukshi who told us that she started only a few days ago was very nice and helpful and her English was perfect. Bed was comfortable. Overall fine stay but not up to what we have experienced during the rest of the trip.

Restaurant was not very good, no Sri Lankan food. Much more expensive than better restaurant in the country. Much smaller portion. A bit difficult to communicate with the staff. Jacuzzi in our room was not working very well.

The best buffet breakfast one can find in Nuwara Eliya! This pretty property is a must-stay, the staff is very helpful.

We couldn’t stay at the Clovelly Bungalow because of emergency repairs to our room so we were accommodated in the Victoria Bungalow for one night and then the Golden Ridge Hotel. Staff did try their best, but it all felt a little impersonal and we were disappointed. We had specifically chosen the Clovelly because of its small size and heritage atmosphere and while the facilities at the Golden Ridge are nice, we hadn’t expected to spend our holiday in a modern hotel with massive crowds.

Not being able to experience the Clovelly Bungalow, the open fireplaces and other features which we had been looking forward to! The website should make clear that the Clovelly Bungalow is part of a large, mass tourism hotel complex, and not a stand-alone heritage property.

Facilities are nice even though the rooms are a bit cold and the food is ok

Let's start from the beginning: finding the hotel. The pin on Google Maps is wrong. When you call them for directions, they tell you to which street you should go, but don't tell the most important detail: the hotel is connected to another one with a different name and there is no sign marking that the clovely is also there. After driving around for a while, we finally found it. Them the real challenge begun. We arrived 1h after check-in time (mo surprise since finding the hotel us a scavenger hunt) and had to wait 1 hour to have our room ready. Once we were taken to the room, another 40 minutes wait for our bags. This was enough time for us to discover that the internet connection was really bad in all different areas of the hotel. Exited to finally enjoy some time in the pool, we realized that no one gave us a key to the room. Once again, we went to the reception and, this time, asked them to bring the key to the pool area. 2h later and nothing, we picked it up at the reception. To close my review, a note about breakfast: even though they say it's starts at 6.30 am, nothing is ready before 7.30 am. So if you are planning an early start of the day, don't count on it. .

Everything about this property is exceptional.. Its looks, Its location, Its rooms, the whole feeling is just mind blowing. More than everything the clovelly bungalow’s hospitality is the best so far !! The moment you enter in the hotel they will make you feel like king and queen.. We met with Dilruksi at the reception and she took care of enire process seamlessly.. She is very kind and warm.. In simple word AMAZING !! We are so glad that we picked this Bunglow in beautiful city of Nuwara Eliya.. It truly made our experience 10X Better.
