A stunning property. Great communication from host. Managed to get the fire on which was a total treat. Lots of space and so quaint and traditionally English. The village is stunning and we loved it here, especially in the mist. It was like entering Brigadoon. Parking was a real bonus too.

It was all great.

"Disappointing."

This is a really lovely period cottage. I liked the bathroom decoration, in fact the decoration throughout. The open fireplace with some logs provided was much appreciated.

Very unfortunately (because this cottage deserves so much better) the kitchen wasn't cleaned when we arrived. All the appliances, even the kettle, were sprinkled with sauce (?) and crumbs. The cooker surface was, as I first thought, caked with burned-in residue. Then I discovered the dirt was in fact sticky, so could have been cleaned. The cooker was also VERY old and all the labelling practically gone, so getting the oven to work was time-consuming guesswork. Additionally, all the pots and pans save one were so badly scratched that cooking would have meant a side dish of Teflon. I also discovered heaps of dust under my bed. Having a shower wasn't possible as the boiler only ran for a couple of seconds, then went out, then on again. You would have had a cold shower every few seconds. TV reception went out during rain. Giving guests who've possibly had a long drive a house number for this cottage is a bit unkind. There's not one house number in the whole street; all the cottages have names. I had to ask residents and a roofer (!) who happened to be around. Central Boscastle is 15-20 minutes down / up a very steep hill.

"Charming Cottage"

10.0

Delightful cottage, comfortable and tastefully decorated and furnished. Nice little outdoor courtyard. Log fire. Comfy bed, pillows ok. Boscastle is lovely with a few pubs and cafes etc nearby.

The shower over the bath (with low-ish ceiling) is maybe the best that can be arranged under the circumstances; it seems that the water pressure to the shower over the bath is boosted by a pump and the water pressure nevertheless fluctuates - but this is a very old cottage and some allowance for the limitations thus has to be made - didn’t spoil my stay or enjoyment. Make sure to let guests know that the name of the cottage is ‘Tamarisk’ as there is no number (3) I could find outside the cottage.
