White House

Loved the comfy bed. It was great to have a separate living room. The breakfast food in the fridge was varied and plenty of it. The bottle of wine was a welcome addition.

I liked the self-contained annex with its own entrance, spacious bedroom and little sitting room. And great idea to lay on breakfast in the fridge. The owners went above and beyond getting gluten free and dairy free options for us. They also booked us a table at a good pub/restaurant in a neighbouring village.

Better directions sooner would have been helpful, with a sign for travellers coming from the south - the White House is at the top of the hill opposite the church but the postcode covers half the village. The shower room/toilet is rather small.

Ideal location to break our journey to Scotland - very comfortable and excellent breakfast supplied.

The hosts went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, providing complimentary food and wine on arrival, to the regular communication ensuring that we were happy.

Our stay could not have been better. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by our hosts. They laid on a welcome bottle of wine, cold meats and cheeses. The accommodation was very comfortable and we had an excellent night's sleep. In the morning we enjoyed a lovely continental breakfast with fresh fruit, toast, crumpets and croissants. Our hosts made sure that we had everything we needed to ensure our stay was perfect and we look forward to staying at The White House again.

The cold food and drink options provided were varied and generous. The owners were warm and approachable. There was no suggestion we needed to provide our arrival time but they were there when we arrived. Nice decor and outdoor table and chairs if required.

From Booking. Com I hadn't picked up that this was more like a small apartment than a traditional B and B so was hoping for a cooked breakfast. Could be made clearer bny saying continental buffet breakfast or something? Not a scenic spot though I realise nothing the owners can do about that.

Enjoyed selecting from the array of things provided for the continental breakfast. There was almost enough for a light supper - a bottle of wine was provided too.The bed was comfortable and we liked that there was a small sitting room. Also pleased it was pet free.Enjoyed a local walk from the property the next day. The hosts were very friendly

The shower had rather a narrow opening.

Welcome bottle of wine! Delicious platters for breakfast. Lovely, caring hosts. Very clean and well looked after. Homely. And off street parking. Short drive to Carlisle or to a local pub for a meal. Great location for Lake District, Roman stuff, Scotland. Just as well it was towards the end of our trip as it set high expectations

Love the whole setup. The huge bedroom, the cute sitting room and shower room. The attention to detail is outstanding. Plenty of choice for a "make your own" breakfast and even a bottle of wine on arrival. Would definitely stay again.
