I headed to Tetebatu after Rinjani and this was such a peaceful haven. It's surrounded by nature - rice fields, "jungle" and I felt immersed in the local community. The staff were really friendly and helpful, food was super good! Most of the ingredients are grown in their garden / backyard so you can imagine how fresh everything was! They've got a dog and 2 cats that loiter around the eating area and it really felt super homely. I opted for a tour of their own rice fields which is different from the usual rice fields that people would visit and it was very beautiful. The owner, Agung, knows most of the people here so it was really cool to see him interacting with the people we passed.

Given that it's within the local community, there were competing sounds from all around and I accepted it as part of being immersed in the local community. Hence, not necessarily a bad thing.

It's a hidden little paradise, handbuilt by Agung and his wife Anna. A lavishly garden, beautifully designed cottages, surrounded by scenic ricefields, forests and waterfalls. Right from our arrival, the wonderful staff of this place made it feel like a second home. Tuan the chef, Jose our guide and Agung the owner were all so kind, sweet and funny to be around. They took care of us so well that we felt sad to leave once our trip was done! The room was stylishly decorated and very clean. Excellent bathroom as well. Food was exceptional and the attention to detail is impeccable! Please try the local rice wine, it's delicious! Highly recommend the day trip to the fields, forest and waterfalls. It was really something. On our last day there, there was a traditional Sasak wedding happening in the village and Jose was kind enough to suggest that he drive us out to watch it happen! And what an authentic experience that was! We felt lucky to have witnessed it. All the locals in the area are also super friendly and that made our stay truly wonderful. Thank you Santai House! Please note - Tetebatu has several mosques and you can hear the call for.prayer. But we got used to it and this would be the case wherever you stay in this area. Bring earplugs and you should be fine.

The access road was a bit hard for our car to drive on. However the staff were very helpful and helped us bring our luggage on the last leg. The road is slated to be fixed soon by the government though, so hopefully that happens soon..

All the staff working on the property are very friendly and fun. We had lovely food prepared by Tuan with a smile. The room was spacious and clean with a nice balcony to relax on.

Nothing! Only thing is it’s up a very steep and rocky hill which is interesting in a taxi!
