Tartaruga Beach Unawatuna

Large room, very comfortable beds, friendly staff.

Location is really nice just in front of the beach. Rooms have a good size and are comfy. Really nice view from our rooms 34&35. Restaurant has a great choice for the half board and the portion are good. It was nice to have our dinner on the beach. Staff is friendly.

Nothing special except, the bathroom could have the air conditionning

Very nice boutique style hotel. Big and clean double room. Good location at the beach. Nice people. Swimming pool was big enough and not crowded.

One time it was beach party near our hotel. It was really loud and took till after 1 a.m.

They provided a bedsheet as a blanket. Water pressure was too slow. The people at reception were very cool. Didn't even give a smile.

The staff at Tartaruga are truly lovely, very accommodating and excellent service. It is right on the beach and easy walking distance to restaurants etc. We ate lunch there most days and the food was fine. The hotel overall is lovely and a nice place to be. We did have issues with our room and noise sadly. We were initially given a family room that was in a separate building to the main block and was not like the pictures at all, the bathroom was barely big enough to turn around in and it was very scrappy although the room was clean. Directly outside one of the windows is an alley that is used by a lot of motorbikes/Tuk Tuks and also for storage and the noise at night was unbearable and constant and the bikes/people talking and banging started again at around 05:30am. We asked to be moved and were put in a different room in the main block for most of the rest of our stay. Whilst the room was lovely Unfortunately noise was also an issue in this room due to music from the club next door which was incredibly loud in the room every night (I think the club is only open Fri to Sun and might not be heard in rooms in the middle of the hotel possibly) We did raise it with the hotel and they are aware it’s an issue and mentioned that they have spoken to the local police about it. They advised the music is supposed to be turned off at midnight although it was gone 3am one night when we stayed. It’s a shame otherwise I would have given the hotel a much higher rating but we barely got any sleep during our whole stay!

Amazing location for the beach and local restaurants/shops, great pool, fab varied breakfast- party vibes in the area generally but this hotel is quite chilled.

Bit noisy at night time but this might be that we were on the ground floor right on the beach.
