Absolutely beautiful interior of old home & wonderful views of the river. Delicious breakfast. Ana was very helpful.

Difficulty navigating the hills & cobblestone streets to get to the place.

The property is in a great location, close to the university. Check in was really smooth and Ana's communication was great. The apartment has lots of character and feels very authentic. The terrace has amazing views of the river. Breakfast served by Joana was very good, with the time this was served agreed the night before.

Seating on the terrace wasn't too comfortable, having a table would make this space even more special.

The rooms were large and the hotel maid was exceptionally helpful.

(1) Booking.com did not describe this property correctly. The property DOES NOT have 24/hr reception or a restaurant. It is more like an Airbnb. When I arrived in pitch dark there was no one present to allow entrance. The taxi driver had to phone the owner, and they, speaking Portuguese, after 30 min figured out how to use door codes to let me in. If not for the grace of the taxi driver, I would have been stuck without lodging at night in a foreign place I do not know. (2) The "hotel" is on steep winding cobblestone streets that might be fun for young people to walk, but too difficult for me so I had to take a taxi to go to any of the town sights. (3) The bed was uncomfortable.

The rooms are very respectful of the soul of the building.

No air conditioning (probably because of regulations). It was a little warm in late August, but nothing too unbearable.

We loved the place, the feeling of an old Portuguese house with beautiful tiles, the views from the balcony are fabulous. Coimbra University is walking distance from Alto Canto. Breakfast was very nice, Joanna’s conversation made it even better. Great place to stay!

Host was lovely and the location and property was magical, so special. Homey and kind, best of old world and new! Obrigada Ana!

It is a beautiful place, very well renovated.

The bathroom was a bit small and you needed to watch out for your head given the steps
