AltoCanto is a lovely apartment in the heart of Coimbra. Great location, terrific views of the River and Ani was a helpful and kind host. Breakfast was very nice as well. This is set up for independent travelers who are comfortable using codes, etc to access the unit. We loved it but if you are looking for a hotel this isn’t that.

Suggestion for winter: A space heater in the large bedroom upstairs took the edge off the cold. But walking through the large open area to the bathroom was uncomfortable at night and first thing in the morning. A bathroom heater would be welcome.

Amazing outlook as well as especially lavish interiors of the superior king suite where we stayed!

Quiet location with big and clean rooms that offer a fantastic view at the Mondego river. The host was lovely. Obrigada Ana!

Ana and Joanna were stellar hosts. They provided a clean and charming apartment with a beautiful view, a warm welcoming breakfast personally prepared, and a personal send off. The location was perfect for our stay; a short walk to three things we planned: the riverside for a night stroll, the university for sightseeing, and the botanical gardens to relax in nature.

Parking in the narrow street was a challenge but very inexpensive at the meter. If you drive, I highly recommend a compact car for anywhere in Portugal.

Great, friendly service from Ana. Magnificent view, lots of room, easy access to the city and sights to be seen as in the university. Breakfast was a bonus.

Small bathroom but understand with the history of the building that is part of the design that can’t be helped. A place to plug in the kettle and maybe some milk in the fridge for cups of tea.

This is the best view in Coimbra. There are two rooms, on two levels of the building both with amazing views. They share a huge common area and balcony, and the breakfast is served in a separate kitchen. The building itself is full of history and is located just some stairs away from the University of Coimbra. Ana is warm and welcoming host, ready to go far and beyond to provide a comfortable stay and experiences in town.
