"So close to perfect, so far from ideal"

4.0

The property is beautiful, it’s a 500 year old convent. That’s why we booked this place. The location is perfect for exploring Coyoacan which I highly recommend.

Couple of points: 1. Mexican plumbing does not include p-traps in the showers which is why you will see small plastic drain stoppers covering all the drains. The lack of a p-trap allows sewer gas to rise into your bathroom and smell terrible. This will be a problem at any non-modern/boutique hotel. At los Camilos room 4, the bathroom vents into the rest of the room, so trying to dispel the smells makes the whole situation worse. We opened all windows while we were out during the day and that helped the situation, though gases will collect in the bathroom overnight. 2. For half of the stay we did not have running water and did not receive a reason why or a realistic timeline of when it would be fixed. My home city has its issues with water supply so I consider myself understanding, but I would have appreciated any level of communication from the property or an offer of fresh bottled water to make up for the lack of running water. 3. There is no front desk and almost no communication from the property, we didn’t know where the front door was once the restaurant attached had closed its doors. It was easy to find but stressful to try to figure out at midnight in an unfamiliar city. In addition to the lack of communication about the running water issue, small things like this began to add up to a less than stellar experience. I really wanted to like this property, and I did in a way. The building itself is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the experience but the management is holding it back from being excellent.

"Nice"

The food options on the buffet were great. The entertainment music was beautiful. The facility was lovely. In general, it´s a nice place to stay for a day or two.

My room had water damage on the wall, and parts fell to the floor. The floors were squeaky, and the bathroom lighting was poor at night.

Location, location, location.

It is not really a hotel (as advertised in the Booking listing), it is a restaurant with rooms attached. Upon arrival in the early evening, a staffer was finally located who could show us to our rooms. Google translate was very helpful in communication. Water in the room was sometimes functional, never really when you needed it.

"Interesting place to stay the night"

6.0

It was very interesting!! The history of the whole place, the paintings, furniture make this place very intriguing. The bathroom was beautiful! They have AC/heater and very warm water.

We didn’t have any water in the room, the staff was not responsive at all. We honestly felt like we were there alone. We were able to use the hot tub because there was a sign that basically said not to and it wasted too much water.

"Disappointed"

4.0

A beautiful place that is poorly managed.

Paid extra for a room with A/C but upon arrival were told it didn't exist. Roof leaked—so much water ran down the walls and puddled on the floor. Sewage smell coming up from the plumbing was insufferable. No support from this website other than its reiterating our communication with the hotel management. Don't trust this company to properly vet its accommodations or value customer relations.

"I would definitely stay in the same room."

9.0

Our room was spacious and the ac came in handy. We had high ceiling and a large restroom in a historical building. Location was good too. It is nestled inside the restaurant El Convento within walking distance to the main center and lots more. The bed was sooooo comfy. There was 3 plants in our room one on the verge of death but I gave it water and cut out the dead leaves. By the end of our stay that plant was thriving and beautiful.

The first 2 nights we had zero WiFi until the third night they finally came and replaced the router. The towels were as hard as sand paper. The lights completely sucked at night because the bulbs are yellow and make it extremely hard to see. The sweater in the shower goes from scorching hot to ice cold.
