Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

Overall, a great resort. The only problem we had was an early morning Road to Hana drive at 6:30, and they don't serve breakfast until 6:30. If you promote a tour and book it for us, maybe offer some type of breakfast at 6:15

We will definitely be back to this venue. March was the perfect time to go. Amenities are great, food is good, places close to shopping. Other nearby beaches. Staff friendly.

Pros: The resort property is beautiful and well-kept. There are lots of places to explore. The onsite coffee shop was helpful. I loved grabbing coffee and sitting in the lobby chairs facing the ocean. Bliss. The animals on the property were fun to look at. They are well cared for. There seems to be an abundance of stray cats on Maui. We saw three on a regular basis that were fed by staff. The front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. Restaurant staff was friendly and on top of things. Housekeeping was very, very good. We received a free upgrade from a partial to a full ocean view. The rooms are designed with thought. The bathroom had double sinks. The drapes were blackout. There are dim lights that turn on automatically under the bed and in the bathroom to light your way there in the dark. The pools were heated and warm. Rooms had good soundproofing. They have a great system for getting and returning pool towels. Mattresses were very comfortable, probably the best I have had in a hotel. You have use of the vacation club pool next door, which had a neat layout and was a lot quieter. There’s also an adults-only pool there. With the main pool at the hotel property being rather deep, we found most kids gravitated towards the Napili pool. The hotel is located on the Shore Path. There are plenty of elevators, so we never had to wait long. There’s a luau onsite. The laundry room machines were newer and worked well. In regard to the reviewer who said the resort needs updating, the rooms were redone in 2021. How often do you expect them to remodel? Cons: I still gave the property five stars because the pros outweighed the cons. Probably the biggest con is self-parking for those who don’t want to splurge on valet and deal with more tipping. There are two lots you can use, but it is a haul to get from the lots to your room. Also, the self-parking lots fill in the evening if you go out for dinner and come back. They DID give us a night of complimentary valet when we had a late evening arrival and lots were full. The other con is pool seating. Cabanas are $$$. As with a lot of resorts, we found pool seating, especially in the shade, fills quickly. So you are out of luck if you have a conference or excursion in the morning. I have type 1 skin and have had skin cancer removed. Shade is super important. We tried to solve the problem by putting our own chairs in a shady spot on the lawn. After two hours, we got kicked out and told that lawns were for cabana use only. We had purchased a cabana one day, but it’s not financially doable to do that every day. The beach is narrow with no natural shade. The guest laundry is in a far corner of the Lanai building, making it a long walk with laundry bags from the other two buildings. Tip: If you are there for a conference, request a room in the Lanai building. The conference rooms are in this building. If you’re there with young children, request a room in the Napili building, which is closest to the kids’ pool.

Great experience overall. The location is really convenient. Bring your beach umbrella or go buy a cheap one as they do not have one to borrow. You can borrow beach chairs. The beach is nice but can be rocky in some areas. They have mini fridges in the rooms so not a lot of space for groceries. Parking is $35 if you self-park and $40 if you valet.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Maui in August 2025 as a family of 3. Hotel lobby is nice with the Aloha sign and the penguins. Pool area is average. Really busy and just a bit underwhelming with people from outside of the hotel able to walk through the grounds. Unable to use the beach in front of the hotel but that was totally understandable so we walked along the coast until we found an area suitable to sit on. Walking distance to Whalers Village which was great to walk along in the evening for fabulous sunsets. Breakfast was average but service was good. Our room had a view of the mountains. Lovely room and great size. Overall, a good hotel but nothing majorly special, especially for the price we paid.

We really enjoyed this property. Expectations have to be realistic, because there are fancier resorts, but this was a great home base to explore West Maui. As globalists we received upgraded rooms with a spectacular ocean view from which we could frequently see whales. I really appreciated the hotel upgrading the second room, which they weren’t obligated to do. It is meaningful to feel like the staff is doing everything they can to improve your stay, obligated or not. The gym here is really nice and bigger than expected. The area is crowded, with lots of hotels, so if you want a more peaceful stay head to Wailea. If you like a little hustle and bustle, this place is a lot of fun. We split our stay between Wailea and Kaanapali and that was perfect. The regency club here was a little below what I expected - pretty minimal and crowded, although the location was great. We were only able to get a 12pm late checkout which was also disappointing. I know it’s not guaranteed at resorts, but I feel like more could probably be done to make it available. We were leaving in a day when lots of travel had been disrupted and there had to have been many people arriving late. The pool was a lot of fun for the kids with a spacious deep area, and it was never hard getting chairs. Overall this was a great place to stay, and a great value for the points!

Great Stay at a Great Place! We usually stay at the Sheraton Black Rock but opted to the side of the Grand Hyatt Hotel. They had a 45th Anniversary package and we jumped right on it. So glad we did! We were greeted by a very nice young woman, June. She told us about everything in our package and even had a special gift sent to our room since it was our own anniversary as well. So nice. The Open Aired Entry is so beautiful and the ALOHA sign made for a great photo opp. The room was a corner room with views of the mountains and a full-on view of the ocean. At night I rested on the lounge sofa next to the window and listened to the waves crashing!!! Ohhh I so miss this. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have stayed in at a resort. Yes! It truly was!!! The breakfasts were very nice at the buffet. Fred, our server was spot on! Always had our hot chocolate and coffee ready for us. I had that added to my package. Highly recommend. The Poolside grill was frequented. They have the best pretzel and cheese. Fish tacos, hamburgers, and flatbreads we all enjoyed. The hotel itself needs to be refreshed/remodeled BUT I must add that it was Cleaned through and through. I'm very picky too. The parking is not so good and the valet has a very "tight" area to work with. But we managed and all is good. There are only 3 washing machines and I believe 11 dryers for guest use. They could use some more dryers. The beach itself is very narrow due to erosion and had a pretty good drop off. Go out to the left about 1/4 mile and there is a large beach with a great snorkel area. The elevators are tricky to get from the main floor to the pool area if you are staying in the main tower. You trade off walking a longer distance vs going down the stairs. (In case you have troubles with stair walking) I would 100% stay here again if they offer another package like the 45th anniversary package. Noise was pretty loud on a Saturday night, but the other 6 nights it was very quiet. (We were above the floor (17th floor) of the Party area. The music was good.

From check in to check out the Hyatt is A+. Plenty of pool chair seating with access to the Hyatt vacation club pool. Nice hot tubs Workout center is wonderful. Plenty of exotic animals from birds to penguins to swans. Breakfast is outstanding by pools with swans waterfalls and netting to keep birds out. Plenty of shopping with vendors on Friday. Staff very helpful friendly. Wish parking was easier but utilization of valet was a plus for us. Would Definitely return. Well, done, Hyatt!!!!!

This is our eighth visit to this incredible hotel in Maui and there is a very good reason we keep coming back! My husband and I arrived after a long, exhausting trip and Betsy and Shawn at the front desk were absolutely exceptional — so warm, understanding, and accommodating. They even took care of a towel situation quickly and without any fuss. Truly above and beyond! The experience at Japengo restaurant was equally outstanding — the team was wonderful and the Hawaiian Poke class was excellent. Eight visits in and this place still manages to impress us every single time. If you are looking for a hotel where the people genuinely care about you, this is it.
