Marriott Albany

I don’t like to write unflattering reviews. The front desk was incredibly slow. There 2-3 people working but only one person could make keys??? It felt like the staff would just disappear. They were friendly but the checkin should have take 3 minutes and it took over 15. I stayed here for the lounge. Evening was very sparse. Breakfast was fine but I stay at Marriotts bc of the lounge. This was underwhelming. The room was fine.

I really wanted to enjoy my stay more, but there were several concerning issues. One of the most noticeable was overall cleanliness and the number of dirty dishes left in the hallways, which remained there from one day to the next without being cleared. Additionally, we were abruptly woken up at 8 AM when housekeeping opened our door. They may have knocked, but since we were asleep, we didn’t hear it. When we mentioned our concern about them entering without a response, we were scolded for not having a privacy tag on the door. In all my years of staying at hotels, I’ve never experienced housekeeping entering so early in the morning—especially without waiting for a clear response. It was even more frustrating to hear them doing the same thing to other guests down the hall after we stopped them. Beyond that, cleanliness and maintenance were also issues. We found leftover food in the refrigerator from the previous guest, which made me question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. Adding to that, the sink had no hot water, and the toilet had extremely low pressure, making it difficult to flush properly. Overall, this was not my best experience at a Marriott. I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and service, and unfortunately, this stay fell short.

Super fast check-in and helpful reception

I spent the last week at the Marriott Albany. When I arrived on Sunday. I was greeted by the always smiling and happy to see you, Kareena. After checking out my room I went to the concierge lounge to grab a few snacks and say hello to Nathan. He knows some good spots to get dinner. The next morning, I returned to the concierge‘s lounge for breakfast and to say hello to Jonathan who is super friendly always helpful. Tuesday was Fat Tuesday. Which to my pleasant surprise their director of sales, Stephen, set up a wonderful party which included a buffet style dinner, and open bar for a few hours. All the amazing bartenders Jonathan, Karen, Jamie, Jen, Marissa and Aleta, were we’re moving around like superheroes. It was such a great event. I’ll be coming back next year even if I’m not on business. I have never had a bad experience staying at this hotel. I started staying at this the Marriott Albany in June 2024 and I believe I’ve been there just about every month since. At least for a few days. I can honestly say they always make me feel so welcome. M, the GM has a wonderful staff who are very talented at what they do. I wish I could remember more name. They all deserved to be recognized.

This was my second time staying at this hotel and the experience was just as pleasant as my first visit.

I did not have any negative experiences during my stay.

Business center computers have not worked on multiple visits over several months. Support 800# listed in business is not a valid number. Front desk staff just shrugged shoulders and said it’s a third party vendor. Do not come here and expect any type of business center usage.
