Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel

Gorgeous, spotless, lovely room, friendly staff, lovely open lobby, great gym with all new equipment.

Over the last several months my husband and I have visited the sheraton chapel hill a multitude of times in observance of our sons last season of lacrosse at unc. Throughout those months we may come in to find that our rooms were not ready, or be asked to move into another room last minute, or we might see a hundred different faces at the front desk. There was consistency however. We never had a problem because zee and erin were always so hospitable and gracious. Waiting for a room never felt bad because we often waited at the bar with Darrick who made amazing cocktails, and literally cared for us and made us feel as if we were the only ones. Funny thing is I read the other reviews and Darrick seems to be so gifted and service that he is able to make every guest feel as if they are the only one. What a gem. The sheraton is lucky to have him. The management team Friday night was barely present. I watched the bartender make drinks, run food, and run dirty dishes on a cart to the back, and I watched him do all of this and never saw anyone wait. I watched his manager come behind the bar and make himself a soda, and later I watched him sit down on the sofa and talk on his phone. What a bum! When I placed My food order with the manager I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich when I really wanted a burger. Moments later I asked Darrick if I could change my order. The manager interjected and said that yes it was possible but I had to make a decision right then. It was the tone and the inflection that got me. Then when the chicken sandwich came the chicken was bone dry under cold bread. Three guesses who apologized...three more guesses who seemed to care. This weekend was our last weekend here. I would like to thank zee, erin, and Darrick for the way they cared for us each time we stayed. My husband and I concur and proclaim that we will not be back.

Darrick is amazing. He always makes sure our cocktails are top notch and the service is way beyond standards. He can make a drink out of anything and always considers your preferences. The customer service is unimaginable in. If you’re looking for a great bartender spend your weekend with him!

I enjoyed my stay, particularly the excellent drinks and customer service provided by Darrick. My only concern is the unprofessional behavior that I witnessed as a manager, Jonel, had a conversation Darrick. I’m not sure what the issue was, but it was quite disturbing to the customers that were enjoying an evening at the bar.

Hotel was overall fine. Check in was slow. The receptionist who welcomed us picked up a phone call a minute into our check-in and for the next 10 minutes, kept on talking over the phone without handling our check-in until we had to move to another receptionist. We asked for a quiet room and while the room itself was nice. It had a rumbling noise of either water, pipes or something similar. On the day of departure, although departure was supposed to be at noon we got woken up early in the morning by housekeeping who were surprised that we were still in the room.

Positively the hotel is updated and new, and the price point was competitive. Rooms are adequate though not spacious (King size bedroom). Check in was a long wait and the staff were not so attentive. We were left standing as the staff talked on the phone and among themselves. Check in experience could be better.

I have stayed At the Sheridan many times over the last 40 years. The entire hotel has been renovated and is awesome. Had late lunch at the bar and was served by Derrick the bartender. He was awesome. Drinks were superb. I had the fish and chips. Delicious. During our time, the corporate manager, Adrian came over to be sure that we were being taken care of. All in all , this has been my best experience in the 40 years. I will come back.

Darrick at the bar was hands-down the best bartender I’ve ever had! Seriously! He was knowledgeable and listened to the desires/interests of each customer. Provided recommendations & comprehensive service all evening! EXCELLENT JOB!

Everything…..

The hotel staff was amazing. Front desk staff had their hands full with significant delays in turning rooms around for attendees at our conference. Awa was gracious and kind even under tremendous stress managing angry guests. She is fantastic at hospitality!
